Dave, where do you get the silver connectors that screw onto the detector? Are they like CB connectors or something?

And also, is the 7.4v battery closer to 8v when fully charged? Just wondering since when you check the voltage on the detector it usually runs dead at 7.4v and is around 8v charged.

Thanks, looks like a good project!

Hi Jason the silver connector's can be found at radio shack, you might know this already, but depending on model detector you use there are two type's a four pin and a five pin. You will need to find out what voltage is required for your detector and also which pin's are for power and which pin's are for audio. if using lipo battery voltage can be regulated using an inline voltage regulator all parts can be found on EBAY. Good luck

Hi Adam,

I use the car charger from the original battery that came with the detector, it seems to work good.

Jason,

I have a few of the 5 pin connectors that screw on to the detector, and purchased them on ebay, to make my own cables. When the battery is fully charged it is in the range of 8.2 volts fully charged, then when it gets down to 7.4 or somewhere near there, I will start to get the low battery beeping on the detector. I use a rooster booster as the amp, and it has a 1/4 inch plug for headphones or external speaker.

Dave.
