jmiller29
I've had these little "rocks" in my collection for decades. Just came across them and am wondering what they are.My first guess would have been something from space since they are roundish and lumpy. They are not magnetic. The larger one is about the size of a quarter and is a little more orangey. Neither one has any flat sides.Anyone ever seen something like this? The Found Dutchman
I think you have a limonite after pyrite pseudomorph. Definately an iron mineral of some type. Have seen them before and are quite common in certain areas.
Nugget Shooter
Do a streak test perhaps and get back with the results? I think the info above is likely close.
The Found Dutchman
Perform a streak test like Bill suggests.http://www.minsocam.org/msa/collectors_corner/id/mineral_id_keyi5.htmhttp://hms-beagle.com/PDFs/Mineral_Streak_Test.pdf
greendave41
I believe those are marcasite nodules that have oxidized (atleast on the exterior).-Dave
