Pro Point Palpitations

My ML Pro Point is acting up, or maybe I'm doing something wrong. I can turn it on, it beeps twice, and acts normal when I use it. Then after a few seconds it starts to get overly sensitive. It beeps no matter where I point it at the ground. At that point it's worthless as I'm getting all the false readings. What am I doing wrong?

When that has happened to me with the Garrett I put in a new battery and it has fixed it. I don't know if that will work for you.

Yep, Try a New Battery and if that does not work Send it Back.

Well the battery is new, but then as batteries go, I'll try another.

Yes if battery does not fix it call Minelab and see what their take on that may be. I have not heard of this issue as yet, have you tried adjusting sensitivity when it happens to see what it does?

Point of interest-I've tried a few pin pointers that had trouble with heavy duty batteries vs REAL alkaline batteries,just a passing thought. Same with tv controllers,alarms and other tech gadgets-John

Sometimes on my Garrett PP if I let a little mineralized dirt get stuck on the barrel it will do the same thing until I clean it off...doesn't take to much...
