Allen in MT
June 22nd was the yearly Garnet Preservation Society Day. There were games for the kids and adults, guest speakers, story tellers of the past and of course the great pie auction. Ralph and I were there as usual to provide the gold panning with profits going to the Garnet Preservation Society for building maintenance, and restoration. The pie auction is the big fundraiser as people brought all kinds of pies which were auctioned off by the slice. There was about 500 people in attendance and the weather was nice. Garnet is an old mining town East of Missoula in the Garnet Mtn range. The gold panning was well attended with everyone getting some nice gold. We had 99 people take part in the gold panning, some seasoned panners, most just learning. And yes the sour cream raisin pie was good, as was the lemon meringue pie. http://www.garnetghosttown.net
