Jim Gilmore
I have a question about claims but not sure what anybody knows about where I look for gold...How deep does a placer claim cover ?Does it cover only the top 30 feet or does it go untill one is digging into the bedrock or ??? klunker
It covers as deep as the placer is. some ancient gravels are hundreds of feet deep.
Jim Gilmore
so it does not ecome a hardrock mine just because the gravels are cemented together..
klunker
Absolutely not. BLM has a good publication called the Location and Validity of Mining Claims and Sites. Load (hard rock) and placer are clearly defined on page one. The book is a necessity if you are involved in a claim or want to claim something of your own. Jim Gilmore
I'm on a club claim and thats fine by me.....There is a plenty of room for one to look.
chrisski
A placer claim will bar someone from coming in and placing a lode claim on top and a lode claim can not have a placer claim put over it. A placer claim would cover as deep as you could possibly dig, although at a certain point you'd need a Plan of Operation, Notices of Intent, and bonds, and anything else for a full scale mining operation.
