Variations between coarse octahedrite meteorites.

Recommended Posts

Would the forum please help with the following question.

I'm currently learning about about Campo and Toluca meteorites.

I understand both are noted to be coarse octahedrites but fall into different group and composition categories .

In a test where one of each is placed next to the other and without knowing their identities what doe one look for to make a determinations as to which is which.

Thank you

Rick

You can measure the band width of the kamacite and taenite phases, note any inclusions that may be more common in one iron over the other, and just the general overall appearance of the W. Pattern (i.e. compare slices to photos of known origin and look for visual similarities).
