Dakota Slim
Earthquakes can also make gold disappear. The Fortuna Mine near Yuma involved a very rich vein. They mined it until they hit a major fault and never found the rest of the vein. It is still out there somewhere.

Steel Pan
I believe that "dead end" veins are common. Lotsof jogs along the Gold bearing regions of theSierra Nevada Mts.80%
Micro Nugget
By my lights this new Australian theory has a solid ring to it. I've often questioned some of the former theories of how gold gets inside of quartz. This theory seems a plausible account for the mechanics at work necessary to achieve that result. mn90403
I like this type of information. It makes me have more amazement for the piece that I found with the little connected veins running through it. Did they ever go into a mine with some electric probes and see how far the veins are connected? Now if you could just follow that electrical path and make a 3D image of it ... I don't know the real state of that type of equipment now.Mitchel
