Meteorite Museum

Neat old photo! I recognize a few friends in there. I think the building is still there but Dr. Nininger's collection is long gone.

Dr Nininger had a tough time in Sedona. It wasn't quite the tourist mecca back then. Anybody who took the old highway from Phoenix to the Verde Valley before I 17 was built could tell you why - it was mostly movie stars, avant garde artists and ex OSI. Besides the cottages uptown two really small motels and the King's Ransom it was pretty much camping on grasshopper flat (now West Sedona) or at Oak creek crossing.

Parts of Dr. Nininger's incredible collection can still be seen at ASU and the British Museum.
