Quantid Meteor Shower Peaks Tonight

Recommended Posts

The first meteor shower of the year started last night and is said to peak tonight with about 100 sightings per hour.

I'm sure someone has better links than this.

We should set up a hunt at the time of a meteor shower.

You can listen to the radar returns from the shower here: http://spaceweatherradio.com/

Here's the comet body responsible for the shower: http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=2003%20EH1;orb=1

Wow! Great diagram Mike. I may do the drive out to Randsburg area at night run and then hunt for the morning. I did that last month and saw some great streaks! I have some friends in Kingman now on the north side and it would be great viewing from their place.

Here are some of the brighter ones from early this morning. From the Parker, AZ Allsky cam.

Last night I went toward my spot near Edwards AFB and on the way it seemed so bright. I stopped in some local mountains and could not see anything because of the half moon. This was about 1 AM so rather than continue I came back. No pictures and no meteors last night were seen.
