Haderly
There is a lapidary stone that goes by the trade name Chinese Writing Stone that is also diorite porphyry. I found 3 boulders in the canyon of the upper Hassayampa River a couple years ago and my back still hurts from packing them out.I gave a bunch of slabs away and it makes beautiful cabs. Mine has a little finer pattern but essential is the same rock. This is a poor picture of a cab I cut from one of the rocks.http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4027/4696992285_e12c8115c5_z.jpg

pondmn
When slabbed and cabbed it makes beautiful jewelry. It comes in a couple of different shades or colors. The smaller and whiter the lettering with black background is the most desired. Great find. Jerry
