Red Lake for Meteorites???

Recommended Posts

Dodacious and I made a one day run up to the West Grand Canyon Skywalk yesterday on business...At Kingman, we turned off of 40 onto Stockton Hill Road and headed north ... We saw Red Lake, bone dry of course...It looks like it would be a natural meteorite spot ... Since it's only about 10 miles or less from Gold Basin, I was wondering if anyone has ever hunted it for GB stragglers? ... Cheers, Unc

Hi Ron,

I have been to Red Dry Lake numerous times. Most of the meteorites found have been on the SE edges of the lake. There have been numerous finds there, in the metbul, and not on the metbul. Tons of 50 cal, and 30 cal bullets as it was used as a WW2 B-17 test range from Kingman airfield.
