scarecrow
anyone here ever use a mecury retort or other method to recover fine gold?
El Dorado
A retort is only to remove the mercury from an amalgam, not for gold recovery. Yes I have used one.

Hoser John
Please forget that antiquated potato mess. Retort will make ya a retard if not careful. Just get a nice blue bowl and them miniscule specs a fly kaka will be yours. Retain black sands for a batch treatment with mercury/cyanide/leach whatever by a professional with proper fume hoods, protective clothing, breathing apparatus. Do not spend dozens of hours and spend hundreds of dollars getting a couple a bucks in fly poop as play in the winter and mine like a mad man all other times--tons a au 2 u 2 -John
