adam
So it looks like this mineral is quite rare in the states. The New mexico deposit seems of poor quality? Interesting
Goldfinger
I actually think gem quality alexandrites are rarer then diamonds, rubies, emeralds but for some reason, it's relativeley unknown as a gemstone. That location in New Mexico sounds more like a rare earth deposit then a gem deposit. Regardless, any specimens would fetch a pretty price in the mineral market. When you leaving Adam? Haderly
Natural Alexandrite is extremely rare and never very big (less then 1 caret). The Russian’s make some really good synthetic stuff but the size is the easiest way to know it is not natural.
