Joe Z
I ran across this on another forum and thought it might be interesting for use in the desert for night time sleeping. It uses two 12v computer fans and while i have not personally tried it, it sure looks like it would work with minimal power or even a small solar panel to charge up the battery.Joehttp://burningman.re...wampcooler.html
homefire
LOL! I bet that would cool a six pack too!

Joe Z
I saved this and when i get some free time i am going to give this a try as i have most of the parts already and i think it should cool down a two man tent pretty good that i have or the inside of my pickup without having to run the engine. When i do it i will post my results but was just curious if anyone else tried this?Joe

Rimshot
Have you guys tried those flower pot beer coolers? A perfect compliment to the bucket swamp cooler.Basically you get two of those large orange clay flower pots, one smaller than the other so it fits entirely inside. You tape up the drainage holes at the bottom and you place the smaller inside the larger and fill the space in between the two pots with regular sand then dump about a cup full of water into the sand. Then you put your beer inside the inner pot and cover the top of it all with a damp towel and wait about an hour or two and it refrigerates your beverages nice and cool all day even sitting out in the full sun, you just dump another cup of water into the sand the next day and it refrigerates again on its own for as many days as you have water to dump in. I tried it out and it works pretty nifty!Yes it definitely has to be a very, very, LARGE flower pot... :hahaha: Is this just luke cool Jason? Or cold? I don't understand how it chills without a little wind to help it out. hmmm..
homefire
I have made those. The large pots cost a bomb .It will bring down the temps of your drinks down 10-15 degrees. Depending on dew point , shade and winds.

homefire
OK! I made a MINI MINI version of this one. I keep Fish. One tank is over filled with guppies. The water has gotten a little hotter then they like even with the swamp box cooler running.I took me one of those mini water fall pumps and pump water up to a small bucket I have lined with cooler pad. 12VDC Muffen Fan on top to pull the air through the Bucket sliced with slits along the sides. In the bottom, I let it just drip back into the fish tank from the top. This is working as a Water Filter, Aerator and Cools the water down a bit at the same time. How Cool is that?Fish have there fins sped out cool like not Cramped up like they were stressed.Water cleared up a good bit. After the filter medium runs long enough it will start to work as a BIO Filter as well.Need to see if it starts to smell funky.I think I may Patent It.
