Allen in MT
Thought it would be a good day to take a run towards the mine and cabin. temp was to get into the 60'sStill a bunch of snow on the north sides of the hills and got to within about 2 miles of the cabin and got stuck so had to do a little shoveling of snow and got out with no problem. talked to another guy that walked into his cabin and said he still had 3-4 ft at his cabin. Didn't walk into our cabin. Was a bueatiful day so did a little target practice with a new pistol. Walther P22 nice little shooter. On the way back down we noticed some new paper in plastic on some trees by the road so stopped to check them out. They were new claim notices. Thought that was kind of funny because we were on a friends private property in a narrow canyon. The notices had the MMC # along with NO metal detecting, gold panning, slucing, highbanking or taking of any minerals.Got back home and looked up the info on the LR2000 and sure enough 2 new LODE CLAIMS were filed. This is private property and the owner also owns the mineral rights. Gave Tony a call and he knows nothing of it. He lives in Minn.Gave him all the info and will be interesting to see what he finds out about the guy. Rimshot
Hi Allen. The P22 is a great gun. You'll love it! I especially like the clip with the thumb handle to recess the spring while reloading. And I have never had any feed problems with it or ejection problems. Light weight. I've put about 500 rds thru mine already. But keep your eye on the front plastic site if you holster it a lot. They have been known to pop off if it snags on the holster. Definitely a keeper!Rim

Allen in MT
Was finally able to get back into LR2000 and look up the second claim this guy filed. The 1st was a 20 acre load claim, the 2nd claim is a 5 acre placer claim which looks to be over the top of the load claim. All of this on private property. Land owner has been notified as he lives out of state. Got the guys address but can't find a phone number.Don't know what this guy was thinking or if he was thinking. El Dorado
It's obvious that this guy does not know what he is doing, to bad the BLM accepted his 5 acre claim at all...... min is 10 acres! He should be easy to scare away by hitting him with a mineral trespass threat. See what the Sheriff has to say. By him filing those claims he has admitted to prospecting on those claims and made a discovery....

GlennM
Posted or not, Federal Mineral Trespass it is. On private property he better be glad his ass didn't get peppered with rock salt, or worse. Had that treatment a couple times as a kid and it HURTS!Prospector's responsibility to know the land status where he's shoveling or swinging. Errante Hombre
BLM doesn.t do any checking or get themselves concrned about filig claims over existing claims. Someone filed 4 placer claims over our Nugget Wrangler claims this spring. A call to BLM confirmed their lack of interest. They consider it a civil matter. He also filed another claim on the withdrawn area and they do care about that and will not refund any monies on that one.George
