I'm Back. Crazy Stuff

Recommended Posts

G'Day Everyone

Yes, I know.. you must be getting bored with me. I just happened to stumble upon some weird stuff. This latest one has got me baffled. Looks like silver, actually it is silver. 5" long, 3/8" at it's smallest point. 1/2" at it's widest point. Some stones are included at one end and a heart shaped stone at the other end.

Do you have any idea what this could be? I will tell you how I found it later on. But just to keep you up to date, it's a hollow tube and when the sun sets, it starts to emit colors. All the furniture in our living room starts to vibrate. Some really strange stuff going on here. It's full of mojo.

I'm guessing it's a thermometer holder. But then again, it could be anything. Thoughts are welcome and I was kidding about the mojo.

Cheers

Johnno

Very Nice Johnno!!

I think you may have nail it with the thermometer case, probably belonged to a nurse, or doctor.

If it's not a thermometer case, maybe a pencil case/holder.

A lock of hair is a very good possibility. Or some OTHER momento...

The Spanish would sometimes carry a flea from their lover's body to the new world in a little silver ball on a chain! There are tribes in Africa that insert stones under the foreskin at puberty. If the man leaves his wife for an extended period she extracts those stones and keeps them in a leather bag. So there is just no telling what horrors may have been stored in that little cannister of love!

A cigarrette holder is my bet.

It wasn't so long ago that ladies could only smoke in certain company. They definitely could not keep a pack of Camels rolled up in their shirtsleve like the blushing beauties of today. The long cigarrette holder was designed to keep the ladies from smelling of smoke should they decide to partake. I would imagine that a discrete case for a single smoke would have been in vogue at some point in our cultural evolution.

...Or a holster for a big fat pocket rocket. Either one.

Well Skip, maybe we'll call you the winner. :thumbsupanim But we had a later contribution from Patrick. Yes, this has been a real interesting challenge. And yes it does look like a pen holder, come pencil holder.

Today I decided to clean it up a little bit gently. Then I noticed some movement, but I couldn't nail the movement down. So I pulled out the grasshopper and it confirmed my thoughts. So here's some pictures of the hidden link to this mystery.

The other end unlocked revealing a pen or pencil insertion. It also revealed a mark, just one that I've found so far which was 925

So I think the mystery is solved, well kind of. Was it a pen or a pencil?

And boy I've got another one to come. A painted porcelain angel that incorporates a jigsaw puzzle. So stay tuned for the latest update on that one.

Thank you all for your contributions, you are the best!

Cheers, Johnno

G'Day Bucket

The story is similar to what I approach each day, being in construction, who knows what I will find. Hidden objects in walls, under the floors, in the attic or just laying around on the dirt. It's all fascinating. Let me quote a little story here.

I won't go into what I do, but let's just say I'm part of an A-Team that moves in and fixes problems. While fixing a problem, I noticed a piece of galvanized pipe dangling from a wire. Never saw it before but it was interfering with what I had to do. So I cut the wire, it was a pipe maybe 6" long with 2 caps on either end.

When I got a chance I opened the cap up, nothing inside but it was dangling from a very old cast iron venting system on the floor. When I opened up this pipe, it contained tissue paper.. hey maybe it was toilet paper, who gives a hoot. But the impressions in the tissue paper, you could plainly see that it was $20 gold pieces. Well, I was slow. The plumbers got there first, now I'm not saying that they opened the tube up and retrieved the $20 gold pieces, but who knows...But I know I was the last to come upon this pipe.

Cheers

G'Day Bucket

Yes, it's another one of my strange stories and thank you for picking me up on that :) It was laying under an old house that was destined for demolition. It's amazing what you find underneath old houses including the walls. Always keep an eye out. But don't let it get poked with a sharp stick

Cheers
