Detecting a New York Cornfield

Recommended Posts

Well this old dog learned a new trick a couple of days ago, when I was invited up to Kingston, New York, in the Catskill Mountains, to detect a cornfield for old coins and buttons. My hosts have had a lot of experience relic hunting, and we had a blast. We found a ton of old iron, a "Britania" coin from around 1850 (?), a musket ball, and in the next field over, my hosts found some more large coppers and buttons! I never imagined you could find all this stuff in a farm field! Very Cool!

Very cool Terry, I was wondering when you'd pop up, you've been mia for a while. Good to see your still out there tearing it up.

When you first started posting about treasure hunting back east I replied about the potential. After years of hunting around isolated spots where people have been I have learned that it is a simple equation...More people more treasure! I bet there are thousands of spots where a fellow could fill a sack with good treasure in New Freaking York.

Nice finds Terry! Those dated items are my favorite because they really take you back when you see that number on them! I am really enjoying seeing this stuff on the forum as we generally dont discuss it too much. I hope you find a bucket full of good stuff!
