FlakMagnet
This is another of those small things that has helped me in the field.I use the toe of my boot to scrape the first layer of dirt when I get a faint signal.Obviously that is not so great for the life of the boot.I have found that spreading a nice thick layer of silicone glueover the area of the boot that I use to scrape with is an almost bullet-proof way to protect the boot.fiwi,Flak

I have one foot that's really messed up. No health insurance and being in construction it's really tough to wear a boot let alone walk around on a roof. Maybe the silicone will help CheersJohnnoAnd thanks for the medical solution! P.S. Don't view this if you're hungry

Bedrock Bob
I use a piece of heavy plastic (from a "Hot Wheel" toy) for a foot guard and digger. I cut a curved piece of plastic that was shaped right to go over the inside of my foot. I driled two holes in it and laced it up when I laced the boot. It took a little adjustment but I figured out how to make it hang so it covered the inside of my right foot and drug the ground just a little. I didnt notice it at all when I walked but when I scraped my foot sideways it guarded my boot and gave a hard edge to dig with.I wore metatarsal guards for years and that is where I got the idea. Instead of sitting over your arch like a metatarsal guard it hung to the side of your foot toward te instep. Just like an armor plate down the inside of your foot.Johnno, those are the ugliest dogs I have ever seen! :yuk-yuk:
Johnno
Johnno, those are the ugliest dogs I have ever seen! :yuk-yuk:G'Day BobThanks mate, I feel so special. I'm waiting for the other toe to go on the other side that way I can balance out the right foot from the left foot. But look at it this way, when I tell somebody something and they want to see if I have my fingers crossed, I'm styling mate.
