Goldfinger
The color just can't be true in the photo. So it's impossible to judge based on the color. From what I know of that area and perhaps the type of crystallization, I going to say it's a beryl of some type. My second choice is epidote.Steve
clay
Looks like what used to be called actinolite part of the tremolite series. If so it should have a white streak.ClayMinerDiggins

Gilaoro
I would have to say Epidote thats been in water in a mine or pocket and is Iron stained.Max
Nugget Shooter
The color is indeed true and your guess of Epidote was correct...Off the lower slope in the iron stained soil.

Gilaoro
Bill, those came from within 4 miles of the Las Delisous Mine that produced Water melon Tourmaline up until ww-2, theres one from here in the Josie Scripts mueseum in San Diego from there, I talked to the old man that sold it to her in 1935 for 20 dollars, its now valued at 1.5 million, it water clear 2 1/2" long. I dug in the dumps there one summer and got lots of tiny ones. The mine has been caved in many years , its on the edge of a canyon about 1000 ' deep that has never saw a prospector must less a dredge but geting it in there? The picture shows me standing on the edge of it.Max
