Nugget Shooter
Hello megan and welcome to the forum, photos are very hard to tell from with any real accuracy. From what I see I will guess what you have is a sample of Hematite or Magnetite and you can try making a streak with it like with a marker on a piece of unglazed porcelain. Even the under side of the toilet lid or the bottom of a coffee cup will work. A grey/black streak means MagnetiteA brick/rust color means HematiteA meteorite will not leave a streak unless there is some desert varnish on the outside in most cases. You said magnetic so I will guess gray/black streakBUT... I am only looking at a picture and giving it my best shot...
frank c
If it doesn't turn out to be one don't be disappointed, its still a great looking sample to add to your rock mineral collection.
