Nugget Shooter
I am currently in the midst of reading Jim Straight's newest revised edition of:ADVANCED Prospecting & Detecting For Hardrock GoldWith an Expanded Appendix on Meteorites. As always Jim explains how to learn to identify areas to prospect and metal detect for hardrock gold and the possible placer deposits related to them. Also there is a gold mine of information related to meteorite hunting with a metal detector. Folks this is a good one and should be in every serious hunters collection newbie or pro.Not sure on availability yet as I just got this copy and haven't had a chance to ask Jim about that. I will update with info or perhaps Jim will hime in here and give some more details about the book and availability. I plan to stock it as soon as I can get some...Cheers, Bill

jim straight
Gosh Bill I have tried to send you a message that I'm most honored that you are interested in carrying my book. But I'm on slow dial up and I get timed out.Bill thank you(!) for being willing to carry it in your store in Morristown... I'm sending you a box ASAP. All of the prior edition/printings (older copies) have been the best I could do. My latest printing has just now hitting the newsstands. I'm not selling individual copies as this would not be fair to those who buy a small boxto sell. It would not be fair for me to compete with them... Both "Three Hours to Gold from Southern California" and "ADVANCED/Meteorites"are being printed in a large printshop with a full color laser xerograpic printer. Quality paper, spiral bound... the best I can do and I apologise for any "typos." I'm a graduate of "Mackay"... 1954... "Old school" when mining was still going strong... Mike and Frank.... Thanks! Today is a good day. We were told today that Glorias "stage-4" cancer was in remission and chemo was not needed as of now. Thanks everyone... Jim Straight Bill I will get an order out by bookrate tomorrow... thanks jim

jim straight
Howdy everyone... I found this thread on goggle... Please notice it is an old thread... 2010 vintage and referring to the 2010 edition with Appendix "A" More on Meteorites Now lets fast forward to today... The July 2013 is just hitting the newsstands and Bill will receive about Tuesday 7-02-14; 10- autographed copies of the latest July 2013 edition to sell in his store... Bill... jim straight
GemGuides is advertising the July 2013 update in their catalog. It ia rich in references in both the ADVANCED Pros. & Detc. pgs that emthasize the importance of the easily overlooked epithermal deposits that have historically formed the bread & butter eluvial "dry" placers throughout the deserts of the southwestern section of the North American Cordillera... this is all explained by checking the roman numbered pgs i through; the table of contents, especially the glossary and references scattered throughout pgs 01-83; all of this plus the detailed glossary, references, illustrations, charts and tables could stand alone as about xx plus 84 pages dealing in depth with tidbits of information that are not detailed in a generalized multi-informational textbook... More later about the added Appendix "A" More on Meteorites.
nugget108
I love your books Mr. Straight. They are full of great info and knowledge.
jim straight
Now about Appendix "A" More on Meteorites. As we are now becoming more and more aware, the common Stony Meteorites (aka Aerolites) are often associated with the gold placers being found within the deserts. Also most of the meteorites are found within either the dry lake basins. Or as a Supposed "hot rock" (or in my case a pisolitic bauxite. So like "coffee and a donut, both sections, from i to 117 complement each other... Especially as the stony chondrites (carboniferous or estatite) make up about 85.7 percent of the known finds... Again, I goofed; the Meteorite table of content is listed on pg xix... And again on pg xx I list by page number from vii through pg. 112 I refer to all of the charts an illustrations regarding "MORE on METEORITES. There is also more information on pgs 113- 117, such the tools of the trade that can be used to identify a possible stony meteorite and a glossary and references. Thus I'm also led to understand there are now those that only are interested in "meteorite hunting for 'aerolites'" (stony chondrites) in the vast dry/wet lake playas, salt flats throughout the deserts of the North American Cordillera. Both Bill and also Rob have a copies of ADVANCED "with an expanded appendix on meteorites. Both the Revised September 2010 edition or the latest updated July 2013 printing are nearly the same; but the 7-2013 printing has been revised--- especially the illustrations (in color) and hopefully the typos have been corrected. As my books are printed locally in Fontana CA there is little profit margin... I write because I am driven by an unknown reason... like a good addiction... I have been thus driven for most of my life... tailgate jim straight...
jim straight
Now that I've "Plugged" my 7-2013 update as a good book to purchase; maybe it is, or maybe it isn't... However both Bill and Rob have about 10 copies to sell. They were part of a small printing. I will have more later. They will have a yellow frame such as a picture frame around the outer border. The photos and the all of the illustrations will be as clear as possible. Most of the typos have been corrected. It is spiral bound and thus lays flat. It is printed on a full color printer and of the best quality. It will be available through GemGuides, JOBE, Jimmy Sierra Enterprises in quantity. Also single copies are advertised for sale though the Nevada State Bureau of Mines Publication sales, Lost Treasure Magazine Publication sales, Bills store, Robs store. However, I do not sell any individual copies under the table... but do give about 10% of them away. Straights Publishing Company has been in business for over 33 years. (More about this later). Joe Z
Jim, Just ordered your book thru Bills store. I have a few of your books already and can't wait to read this one that will stay in my arsenal for all times.Joe
jim straight
Thank you Joe and all that will buy my book... I have a small printing of 200 being printed for Straights Publishing Company... they are the same as what Bill and Rob have... but they will now a yellow colored edge around the front and back cover such as to give a thin border-like frame and all will be autographed... All of the September 2010 and this July 2013 update have the appendix on meteorites. They cover in more detail the aerolites that are mostly found while nugget hunting in the desert southwest... Photos and illustrations are very clear and many are in color as both my latest two books (3-hrs to gold and this one) are printed on a pp-to-date laser printer...
