Article/story contest?

Hey all,

I am toying with the idea of offering nuggets as prizes in a article and story contest next month. It will go from October 1st to December 1st with 3 winners and 3 nuggets as prizes. This gives plenty of time to write and mods as well as administration will vote on the articles stories you submit related to all parts of the hobby. Many will also be posted in my articles section and all submitted articles or stories will be released to Nugget Shooter for this purpose. If enough folks want to get involved I will get it going... Vote in the POLL.

Yarns are fine and I will post the guidelines if it flies in the vote.... I will see how many want to get involved after a couple weeks.

Here's a couple stories for submission right now Bill-

West Texas Hunt

First Dry Lake Bed

They deal with meteorite hunting and don't involve gold but the experiences are similiar to hunting for gold.

Don't think I'm good enough of a writer to express my experiences in a way that would be accepted around here as general entertainment. I seem to have a lot, just don't think the stories are something anybody would really want to hear.

The best stories I have ever heard are from experience and not talent. Please dont sell yourself short. Even if they are not well written they are stories that wil be lost,or worse yet never told. I would love to hear your stories!

There are several here with a flair for writing. Maybe one of those stories could be taken up by an experienced author and made great! Sometimes it takes a team....

Capt, Bob is right when he says it's about the experiencess and not the writing talent and I think thats what Bill is shooting for. In our hobby the experiences and adventure can sometimes be very difficult to put into words but it can be fun to give it a try. If you write a story that doesn't necessarily mean you need to submit it. So the worst that can happen is that you wrote a little story about an experience you had and didn't submit it! However you can come back to it later on in life and reread it again... Chances are you'll enjoy it and be glad you wrote it down because you'll sit back and remember the experience.

If you notice Bill gives a time frame for submissions and that gives you plenty of time to write something and revise it as many times as you like until you feel it's ready. Personally... I say give it a try!

I am sure my stuff doesn't fit here, yet it was my experience(one that wakes me up from time to time)

It is "like" if you had talked to and knew a victim of David Parker Ray and got much of the inside story from a witness. Hard to talk about stuff, which really brings a party down.
