Screwed on eBay....

In the last ten years have bought 7 GPS units on eBay...of the

seven two worked...the latest was a unit identical to the one

I've been using for the last five years..advertised as "new in

the box, never used"...two emails through eBay to the seller..

more lies...went through eBay Resolution Center..their decision

was for the seller(no surprise..they make money from the seller

and not the buyer)...the "new" unit has rusty screws that held

the two halves together..post-300-126910679909_thumb.jpg

when turned on just a dark screen that does nothing with scratches

post-300-126910689549_thumb.jpg

many scratches from heavy use..

post-300-126910697932_thumb.jpg

rusty metal clip on the nylon lanyard..

post-300-126910704681_thumb.jpg

tried to file a negative report about the seller "brassduck"

but eBay has a protection built in that won't allow any

negative feeback of a seller...buyer beware of eBay!!!!

I quit using FeeBay due to Pay Pal crap.

They kept locking my account stating some one tryed to access it.

It would take me a week to convince them it was me .

Piss on em!

There are other options out there now.

AS a buyer you can file negative feedback, you cannot file negative feedback as a seller. I am suprised ebay sided with the seller, as when I sell 99% of the time they side with the buyer, even with a tracking number and the buyer says he did not get the item. If I ever buy anything over $50 I use a credit card with paypal. Because you can get your money back with a credit card through your credit card company, and the credit card company goes after paypal, and there is nothing paypal can do about it. Just my :twocents:

Dave I followed all the prompts on eBay for filing a feedback

and when I got to the part about posting the feedback the

site wouldn't take the post...all of the other pages loaded

quick and accurately until the very last click...guess my

biggest mistake was using funds from my bank that I have registered

with PayPal...I even saved all the emails that went through

eBay...sent them the same pics I posted on here...no more eBay

for me...ever...

Don, E-bay sucks dialiated donkey d!#$%.

I got a bum deal twice from them and stopped using the site years ago.

It just seems like its so easy and convenient for somebody to scam you on there and unload their piece of junk.

And then theres the FIXED sales, Buddys bidding up an item for a bigger sales price.

If yer dealin with a seller with a reputable history you can mostly get what you expect because they tell it like it is in the ad,but overall tooooo many scammers.

I'd rather gamble buying something thru one of the forums we use.

GOOD LUCK.

I gotta go with Frank on this . I use e-bay for some low cost interesting stuff that I can't find local . I would rather climb a tree to buy local than to stand on the ground and send my money far away . The feedback area is a place that I go first . How many bad reports do they have and what did they say back . If you see trouble then that is what you can expect . I will spend no more than $40 or $50 and only with a seller that has virtually no problems . Any more than that I'm looking on known forums or at locals here .

OK everyone, as a “Red Star” seller on ebay (YourAntKat), I have to weigh in here. First, and foremost, ebay has become a tragedy for the buyer AND seller. It no longer benefits either. I sold hundreds of custom knives (some worth $4,000+) from 2001-2007. During that time period, we maintained a 100-percent satisfaction rating.

I pretty much stopped selling through ebay in 2008, when the rates for Paypal and selling started getting stupid (is that when Meg the CEO left? – She’s running for Governor in Cali). Other folks started charging $9.99 for shipping on a $1.99-postage just so they could recoup their selling fees, and I think that is dishonest – so I didn’t.

The rating system is a joke now. For whatever reason, they took the teeth out of it, and it really is meaningless. In my opinion they have made it much easier for scammers – go figure. - Terry

May I ask who the seller was on eBay? I always like to take a look myself at their profile to see if I would have been able to catch any red flags. Since I use eBay regularly, I always need to be on my toes, maybe I could point out any tell-tale signs I see, but I also may not be able to distinguish any.

Hi Bigrex I believe the seller is "brassduck". G sorry you had a bad experience there are alot of honest sellers on Ebay.

Rich

Well, I found a seller named "brassduck", I guess it's the right one, there's also another named brassducks. Anyway, he looks pretty legitimate, long time member 99% positive feedback (in the last 12 months). Over 1,000 transactions, true the bulk of my purchases on eBay are probably mineral specimens and non-electronic items. I do make purchases of cameras, etc as well. I'm wondering if they take advantage more when it comes to out of country sales. Anyway, looks like it would be hard to detect this particular sale as suspect beforehand.

I have to go along with Frank C and the rest on Pay-Pal and eBay, at one time I had an eBay store, I didn't like the high payPal fees but went along with it, then all of a sudden they said one of my best customers wasdoing fraudlent deals on Pay pal, ? what that had to do with me I never figured out but PP went in to my regular banking account and took moneey and my regular account that I used strickley for PP and eBay,

I lost over $3000.00 in one day and never went back to them and never will, if I have to buy something I use Google Pay and the people that buy gold on eBay are pure fools.

After my post on the 21st I canceled everything on eBay...then two days ago and again

today their sending me emails...two days ago they wanted me to give them a feedback on

brassduck...I gave them the same info as before and when I got to the last click and they

ask if I really wanted to send negative feedback....I clicked send and it won't work...

just like before...that's why you only see a high % of feedbacks...negatives aren't

allowed....

Gilaoro...what happened to you is just plain darn scary...did they take your money out of

your PayPal account? Ok I see where you already said that....I didn't know about Google

Pay....gonna check that out for sure....thanks for the replies folks...

Garimpo,

Not only did they take1500 from my PP acct but another 1500 from my regular bank account that was not tied to EB or PP in anyway, those accounts were seperate.

The the bank refused to replace the funds so I quit them too, then they tried to charge me for closing my account I went down there in person and rasied hell in the lobby telling all in line what crooks they where dealing with, of course they called the cops and they took it to the VPs office and he would not file charges so I filed on him, then he agreed and closed my account with no late fees but I didn't get the 1500 ebay stole back either, this was Northern Arizona Bank, foothills branch, I had $40,000 in a business account that was seprate from all personal accounts and ebay and they where going to hold that to, bunch of thiefs, I left with my money with SO escort, one fired bank JVP.

If you are going to deal with Ebay and PP you had better check with your bank because the fine print in EB &PP will let them do anything they want!

Max...how right you are...PP is HQ in Singapore and PP operates on Singapore rules...

I didn't read all of the "user agreement" because I don't understand a lot of the

lawyer talk but the little I understood is scary stuff...I'm thinking if you have a

credit card or debit card on file with PP they can empty your account if they should

want to...I guess the same goes if you have your bank account registered with them also...

I would like to apologize for taking up so much of this topic...my intentions were to

warn folks on this forum what can happen to them on eBay....especially since the GPS I

was buying is for my gold hunting in very difficult terrain as some of you also do...it

seems like I'm not the only one that's had a bad time with eBay...other haven't had any

problems....just be careful.....thanks...

Yo All...This stuff you guys are reporting kinda freaks me out, but I've been doing business with PayPal and ebay for about 12 years, both buying and selling...I've had one negative experience with an outfit that I bought two ink supplies from and they only sent one and I never did get any satisfaction from either ebay or PP....Other than that, my experience has been one hundred percent positive on all scores and I've both saved and made good $ through both services...Their fees are about the same as when you have a regular business and use credit card services, usually ranging from 3 to 3.5% ... That's just the cost of using the service and I've found it worth the convenience and, so far, positive experience... Cheers, Unc

Well, I've had nothing but excellent results with both Ebay and Paypal..I'm not a powerseller, or any of the other hype, but have bought and sold just about everything imaginable in the last 12 years or so..Cars, boats, gold&silver, antique weapons, rare guitars,etc....Sorry for anyone with bad experiences, but it's never affected me negatively..I have had people scamming off items I was selling; they copy and paste your photos, but with different seller info..That said, Ebay has been on top of it and nothing has ever backlashed...My daughter purchased a large screen tv from a scammer, and they only retrieved about half of the money back,but..even she admits that she could have spotted the scam had she not had 'buck fever' over the deal...And the fine print does explain the amount of liability they will cover...

That is a technical issue with your browser. Since it has happened twice on two separate occasions it likely is not an issue with the server.

Once you leave negative feedback your chance of getting the issue resolved with the seller is greatly diminished.

But something for a dollar and see if you can leave positive feedback.

Cheers
