Ant Man
Greetings! I'm new to this since recently retiring from 25 years Naval service. One of my friends wants to go out metal detecting in the deserts to find gold and meteorites. I'm sure some places are good for this and some not. Already found some gold near Randsburg. Where are some likely spots in California and Nevada to look for meteorites? Thanks. Paul
Paseclipse
Dry lake beds and desert pavement. If you hunt dry lake beds don't bother with a metal detector, it's better to hunt them visually because metal detectors have trouble picking them up and you cover a lot more ground. If you want to metal detect for meteorites head to Gold Basin or Franconia in Arizona. PS- if you spend the time looking through some of the topics in this forum you would have found a lot of posts telling you where you can find meteorites in the southwest United States. Good luck
