Cleaning Silver

Recommended Posts

Doug,

That's the same stuff he'd give me to make me go to school...even if I was really sick!!! Maybe when your out here...you can show that silver nugget to "Silver Legacy" Casino in Reno, NV. They might give you a special price?

Not sure what you're cleaning but here's a good way to clean most silver items. I remember when they used to package this in a kit with an aluminum plate, etc and sell it on tv. Someone made a small fortune until the procedure became well known. Watch out for excessive foaming when adding the baking soda to the hot water. I've seen it literally explode out of the container. Add it really slow and you should be OK

I'm not sure about that RON, I was watching the discovery channel and thats what they said, Urea{spelling} comes from horse piss and is used to clean silver, along with making Hormones for women going through menopaus. In fact its used for lots of things. it would suprise you how many. I would hate to be the guy running around witha bucket, trying to get the horse to piss in it. Ha! Ha! Grubstake :laught16: :laught16:Tarnex and Brasso both have it in them.

Guys I don't know about silver but natives in Africa put their head under a cow when she is pissing and it turns their hair red. They do this until they get the red they want.

Now I've got three kids that have red hair but I'm not sure if I want to tell them how it got that way. :laught16:

Like this forum the discovery channel you can learn so much.

Hi Doug, Why don't you just use electrolysis simple to do Check it out http://gometaldetecting.com/electrolysis_cleaning.htm

If you want to try urea instead of chasing a horse around with a bucket go to your local AG dealer or farm supply and get a bag of urea nitrogen fertilizer it will be at least 50% urea that you can desolve in water. It will take a while but I think electrolysis would be safer to use on your silver dog. Good luck, Bob
