Associated Press A Yuma man has been charged with touching off a wildfire that destroyed five homes and threatened the historic mining community of Crown King last year.

David Alexander Cygan is charged with five misdemeanors related to the fire and one count of illegally possessing a National Park Service badge.

The federal complaint says the 52-year-old told investigators he was in the area south of Prescott on June 28 and went looking for missing hikers at the request of a woman. He reportedly said he found the hikers, left to get help and then set warming and signal fires.

One blaze went out of control and burned about 15 square miles.

There is no telephone listing for Cygan in Yuma. He has a June 25 court date, but records don't yet list an attorney.
