Minelab sold...

Recommended Posts

A visitor from aussie land was having dinner at the MGM last nite and my buddy overheard him talking about meteorites. Well one thing led to another and I zoomed over to the casino for drinks with him and his wife. He mentioned that he heard that Minelab is working on a newer model than the 4000 but cant remember where he heard the rumor. Does anyone know anything about this or is it a marketing thing.

Aloha,

Stan aka Kaimi

Hi Stan I read the same thing on one of the aussie forums and that they were even field testing it already---With this big change as far as selling out--I was wondering if the waurrenties will still be good with the new owners :confused0013: and I hope that there won't be any personel changes at Minelab USA---as their service is second to none :headphones: -Mike C... :ph34r2:

I talked with Kevin and was assured it will be for the best with no changes in warranties or service/personal...As far as a new machine? Don't know, but testing by Minelab is always ongoing and so far from what I've been told the rumors are simply speculation. Sure a new machine is bound to come out, but when is anyones guess.

Cheers, bill

Hello Bill, have spoken to people at Minelab here in OZ and their attitude is "business as usual" which I took to mean, no major changes to Minelab just the people behind the scenes. Minelab are pretty good at producing something new every few years so hopefully in the future we will see a new release. Traditionally prospectors world wide get twitching with "new release rumours" around Easter time and Sep/Oct, so the "new detector talk "does not surprise me.

Well, luckily they(codan) are an SA company so, hopefully no fun and games with corporate restructuring and other shenanigans.

I'm all for Codan allowing Minelab to continue to do what they do best and stay out of it. Just another acquisition to add to their coffers.

My gut on a new machine? May. But I'm sure we'll all know when it happens. Minelab does a pretty good job of keeping a tight lip in my opinion. They do follow a pattern though.

On prospectingoz they are now talking about what it cost to make GP detector and yesterday it showed a full schematic to make a SD2000.I guess like alot of companys when they sale it's talk about what direction the company will take.Codan wasn't making metal detector before so it's not like they will shut down that part of the company.Futher more with nuts like us wanting all these gold detectors there has to be alot of money to be made.

I think Codan will change the name of it's next detector so the price and the name are not one in the same.

Bob Porter: We're gonna be getting rid of these people here... First, Mr. Samir Naga... Naga... Naga... Not gonna work here anymore, anyway.

Bob Slydell: And this loser, Michael Bolton, he's worthless, gone..

Peter Gibbons: You're gonna lay off Samir and Michael?

Bob Slydell: Oh yeah, we're gonna bring in some entry-level graduates, farm some work out to Singapore, that's the usual deal.

Bob Porter: Standard operating procedure.

Peter Gibbons: Do they know this yet?

Bob Slydell: No. No, of course not. We find it's always better to fire people on a Friday. Studies have statistically shown that there's less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week.
