Nugget Shooter
Hi All, If I could get most of you to use this free and simple image host it would really lessen the load on the forum and allow much more archive space. I would have to delete less photos alsol because they last...well...forever at Photobucket without taking any space at NuggetShooter Forums unless you delete them then the link is broken. Also the photo will show up in your post full size (please use 800 x 600 or smaller) and you don't need to click the thumbnail. Photobucket has a series of links below your photo in your album and one is forum ready just click to copy and paste into your post at the forum. Some have their own hosting service and are already doing this and I THANK YOU!!!!! You all wanted to help...Well this is one way! http://photobucket.com/?link=topmenu Thanks Bill
heybeerman
Bill, Does keeping our PM boxes empty help any?
Nugget Shooter
Not really Blake as text take up very little space, it is that I allow large photos etc. and allot of them that takes space. If the photos are hosted elsewhere...no prob. Bill

GotGold
Bill, I stand to be corrected here, but I thought the admin. could set the board to limit the acceptable size of any picture i.e. 640x480 or..... Gary
Nugget Shooter
Hi Gary, Yes I can limit size, but it is already limited to 800 x 600 pixels and 640 x 480 would not make a big difference. This is a HUGE forum and instead of placing more limits I am offering a better solution.... There are 1000s of photos stored on this server and that is due to the size and activity here at the forums (all of them) and to place more limits would be a shame when all could work together to solve the problem without taking away from the forums quality or photo size by just storing photos at a free hosting service. We still get to see the photos, but they are not piling up on our server. I have just gotten a notice that we are again about out of space, so now I nuke posts and photos, buy more space, place restrictions, or look for another solution and asking members to help with the storage solution seems the best route to take. I refuse to charge members or allow cheesy advertising to pay for extra space. Why does our forum seem to be the only one having space issues? We are the biggest, most active and best on the net folks...... This is a simple solution folks..... Cheers, Bill
Nugget Shooter
Wanna know one BIG advantage of using Photobucket? If your PC crashes or who knows what your photos are safe and fully accessible.... Not lost forever. Bill

BobinNV
Bill, Do you own your copy of IPB or are you paying their extremely high monthly fees to rent the forum month to month? I know I have said it before, but IPB is a ripoff when you pay their monthly fees, and their servers are usually oversold and slow. I used their servers before a long time ago and it was very expensive and I experienced the same problems you are now experiencing. Oh well, I have given my opinion and offered help on this issue many times, so I will shut up and take the hint. :hmmmmmm:
Nugget Shooter
Not hint to take, yes I pay their fees...No I don't have any clue how to go about setting up elsewhere and really don't have the time or desire to mess with it or pay someone else to do it is all. I have had several offers from you, Slim, and others, but just too much hassle and I am not PC savvy enough to run it myself after switching is what the deal is. They do my updates and all that stuff for me making this set up a breeze to use. Time is another issue for me and adding more PC work at this point is unacceptable as I get only a couple hours a day at this thing on any given day and not at all some weekends.... Really I appreciate the offers, but have not the time or knowledge to do such a switch..... It is simple to you PC guru types, but I have no clue how to own and run my own forum and having to maintain it and do my own upgrades would leave us in a mess real quick. Cheers, Bill

Cheers, Bill Gotcha Bill, and I understand what you are saying and understand your apprehension. The great thing about owning an IPB license is that they will still upgrade the forum software and fix any problems with the software as long as you own current copy and keep up to date on their yearly license renewal, and a good web host will take care of moving your entire website over to the new server for free. You can even have all this done before you make the final move so that you can test it all before closing down your main site and making the final switch. If you decide to change your mind, let me know.
grubstake
I tryed to get on it, it says I already have an account for my email address. I hit the lost pass word deal, it said it would email me my pass word, its been two days and it hasn't happened. I tried to re-do my pass word and user name, it won't take it. Damned if I know why . Grubstake I don't use hotmail or anything else, only outlook express. Got me baffled.

Randy Wright
I use http://imageshack.us No sign up, no personal info, and VERY easy to use. Just remove the "URL" tags and you're dandy! I use the "hotlink for forums" with the "details" boxed unchecked.
heybeerman
I checked both, nothing from them. Grubstake Grub, You will just have to pick out another photo hosting site like the one Randy uses. It's all the same idea....I think :mixed-smiley-030:
