Jayray
Hi gang, I finally made it into the field and had a blast!!! I ended up sleeping late and didn't get out until about 7am, but made up for it with the meteorite I found. Then, later in the morning, I linked up with Stan and Wayne to hunt some new areas. Great weather and not too many people out at GB. The ground was still pretty wet, but good for detecting. Here are the pics. I have to wait to weigh it, it EEEEEE'd my scale, so I know for sure it's over 120 grams. Enjoy, Jason. :;):

Kaimi
Great find Jason and just like Wayne said that the weights are deceiving for Gold Basins. Can hardly wait for Franconia next weekend. Man I need a "fix". Aloha, Stan aka Kaimi
Paseclipse
Nice one Jason! Waking up a little late isn't bad especially when you pop something like that out. Looking forward to hearing the weight on that beauty! Del
Paleface
Jason, :whoopie: That is one mighty fine looking GB meteorite, looks to have a fair amount of fusion crust. Jim

Afonedude
Jason, nice find!!! Looks like the same spot I was digging my first time out and Stan told me it was just black sand :hmmmmmm:
Regmaglitch
Hi Jason, That's the nicest spud from space that I've seen come out of Gold Basin. Way to go! great pics too. Thanks for giving us a look. Ben
Kaimi
Way to go Jason, Very nice piece. Just like what basalt said NICE POTATO! Hope there are some more out there ready for harvest. Mike Could have been the same area BUT I didn't hear a zip-zip but a ziiiiiiiip-ziiiiiiiiip so it sure sounded like basalt to me. Oh well, I guess it pays to dig everything out at Gold Basin to make sure. BTW, did you ever check that little piece I threw away and you picked up? Was is a meteorite or a meteorwrong? Aloha, Stan aka Kaimi
MobileHolmes
Hi all WOW!!! :whoopie: Jason. Looked like there might be some dark fusion on the piece. Give us a peek when you clean it. Deep finds in the right locale have more black crust. Can't wait to see it. Congrats again. Wayne

Wadnobie
That's a beauty Jason. I've yet to find anything (except marked pennies) at GB. Hope to give it another try in March. --Perry--
Jayray
Perry, it sure has been fun up there, especially with the way the weather has been. Not to mention finding meteorites :innocent0009: . Stan, I checked out the other pieces, and that is a GB meteorite too . Soooooooo....that means you need to go back to that spot with Wayne and search it good :innocent0009: !!! 23.1 grams worth for that one, that's now in two pieces, no fault to me. I might have to follow you from now on if you're going to throw them over your shoulder like that. Jason :;):
Kaimi
Looks like I have been spending waaaaay too much time at Franconia. that piece sure didnt sound like a meteorite   BUT then again it is at Gold Basin and I know now to trust my instincts for sure. No throwing pieces over my shoulder any longer. :grrr01: Into my side pocket for later inspection. I know exactly where to look as I told Wayne about a LARGE piece that I saw but thought it looked rather strange :hmmmmmm: for a Gold Basin specimen. Lucky for me I covered it up but marked it on my gps. You can kick me later. :opps: Aloha, Stan aka Kaimi
