SGTFDA
Frankie I'm still going at it. It is not a easy area to detect back in those mountains. Hit one spot that was infested with deer ticks and had to take pills for a few months. The spot is in the worse spot for Lyme in the State, the exact spot. Going at it again this spring. I'm hot on the trail.!
garimpo
Hi Frankie.....if no else is going to tell you then I will......if you or any body finds something old.... especially coins....gold bars....etc.....their sure not going to spread the good news on an open forum like this.....especially someone wise like SGT...... when asking questions like this in the future you might try to PM the person for better results(maybe)... Seriously tho, be careful out there. Aloha, Stan aka Kaimi
fredmason
Stan I hate ticks, so when I go to Missouri, Tick Heaven, I buy some flea and tick shampoo, I spray bug repellent on my clothes and haven't had any ticks stick to me since I started doing that. Of course, I only visit so I am not worried about the exposure to my skin...besides dogs have way more sensitive skin than humans.... SGTFDA
Garimpo There is only 2000 pounds of it floating about back in those hills. The question is where would you hide it in rocky ground in a area covered with house size rocks. I know the trail that was used but it's slow going looking under all those rocks. The timber rattlers are like pets at this point. I find it I'll see you in Brazil :innocent0009:
garimpo
Frank I faced a similar situation in AZ in a canyon that had sides that sloped about 60°.....big rocks big coon tails and acres of Cat Claw (terrible stuff)....try to imagine where a big rock could have been tumbled into it's present position..... 24/7 party here....join anytime you want.....don't leave a forwarding address.... Micro Nugget
Frank: I know Lyme Disease can't be very beneficial to your health. But look at the up side. Back east I don't think you have Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I neglected to inspect my wet suit one morning a few years ago while on a dredging run in Trinity County. That night as I stripped the rubber off -- there (s)he was, firmly implanted to my mid-abdomen and already slightly swollen with MY BLOOD. Did something stupid then. I reached down, ripped it off and burned it with a match until it boiled and popped. That last part wasn't the stupid part though. The stupid part was squeezing the tick's body to pull it off. By doing so I injected myself with whatever it was carrying (analogous to squeezing an uncapped tube of toothpaste that somehow got screwed into your bare gut). The 10,000 or so little red dots that thereafter erupted all over my wretched body were consistent with what the lab diagnosis was -- Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I gotta tell ya, it ain't good for your health. Especially the fever part. Causes a splitting headache for a week or more. Be careful out there. And hurry up with your retirement plan. Plenty of the yellow metal still sitting out west here just waiting for you to let go of your sinecure back east. And, oh yeah. If you discover one of those !@#$ ticks on you, take a pair of veeery slender nosed tweezers. First, coat him with an oil. Be patient. Wait 15 to 20 minutes. It takes that long for the pest to begin suffocating (the oil clogs its tiny airholes). He may just back out of you all by himself. This is the best outcome. But if he is stubburn or dies while still biting you, grasp the little dude very gently and as close to your skin surface as you can. Then squeeze firmly and in a slow but steady upward motion pull him out. If you then want to light some matches to deal with his corpse, that's up to you. Made me feel better anyway, knowing I just annihilated the few million or billion microscopic microbes that were contained inside the dead tick's gut. garimpo
Martin..I'm beginning to think besides sharing the same last name....we also have been going to the same school..... where Mother Nature is the teacher.....she gives the test and then teaches the lesson..... :tisc-tisc: Only a couple of weeks ago I also had a run in with a tick on my left leg....early in the morning... remembered somebody saying to put Vicks vapor rub on the little bugger and he would back out... Here in my part of the world we have several brands of mosquito's...some have Dengue....some have Yellow Fever....some have Malaria and only God knows what else... So I'm sitting out front on my little front porch.....fresh coffee cup steaming....putting Vicks on my "hitch hiker"......twenty minutes later the little $hit is still "hanging" in there......not to mention the two dozen or so of mosquito's that loved the smell of Vicks.....
