psp1964
Well folks, I was taught to introduce myself when I meet new people. So here it goes, my name is Patrick and I’m originally from Cali and spent my childhood there, Oregon and Nevada. As such I became obsessed with finding cold, whether it was panning or digging it was embedded in my blood. But somehow its 27 years later and I’m stuck in the south east and far from where I want to be. I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately and realize how much this activity has changed and I’m currently working on a way to get back into my passion, looking for gold. Having spent the last 25 yrs in the south east my treasure seeking has been limited to MDing beaches and parks looking for coins and relics. I’m sure I’ll be doing a lot of reading here and maybe asking questions if that’s ok. Well I guess that’s all for now. Thanks for reading my post and I looking forward to talking to you all, I’m sure I will learn a lot. Patrick

FlakMagnet
Hi Patrick, Welcome to the forum. You will have lots of help and advice here should you want it, and sometimes even if you don't :confused0013: It is probably weird to be back east when your heart, as far as gold prospecting is concerned anyway, is out here, but this is a good place to hear what's going on out here. Happy New Year. Flak
frankie
well they said it all .and this is a good place to be. its grown really big in the last year or two. i hear what your saying about digging for that yellow stuff. im out here in mass about 4 miles from the atlantic ocean.i would love to beable to go looking for gold out in my back yard, instead of whatever i can come across. you really have to work it ,here. i spent alot of $ just to go coin hunting. i have the gpx4000 and i just got a fisher underwater detector also for when it rains out,or we get a storm.i can still go detecting.. i like everyone else here would be lost without a detector. and you cant find a nicer group of people than here. i got alot of help when i first got started here. it can be funny how some people get when it comes to detecting. my best friend and i use to hunt together, until he jumped two hot spots i found and told him about. so live and learn. but for the most part everyone ive met here has allways been real fair to me.so welcome aboard. grubstake
Welcome PSP1964, if I was in Nam still, I'd say that stands for perforated steel plate, like the used for runways over there. Man I hated that stuff, we used it for everything you could think of. Grubstake
psp1964
Thanks for the welcome Frankie. The beach is the next best thing when looking for treasure if you don't have a mountain full of gold near by, unfortunately there are no good beaches for me but I do make it to the rivers and lakes often(mostly fishing lures and sinkers) :grrr01: grubstake, it is my initials but I have fond memories of perforated steel plate, the parking lot at the range on the Seal Beach weapons station was covered with it. My dad would take me there to recover lead to make his sinkers. My real first treasure.
frankie
well its me frankie again. i almost forgot to tell you theirs alot of good treasures books out their. one which is called united states treasure atles. they have different volumes like 10 of them. each book covers like 6 states each. you might have to go on ebay to get your own states book. but for the 6 states i look at theirs like 400 treasures in each state. some found. the book isnt made anymore and mine was one of the hardest to get. they wanted $75.00 at the book store, but couldnt get it. i got it on ebay for $25.00 bucks. the other states were even cheeper. i know for a fact the treasures are at least mostly true. some have been found. i didnt think any were on the cape. but one was about 5 miles from where i live. the other story was the pirate ship whidah which was found and it even had a plack at the site before it was found. theirs alot more treasures around me,but i have to travel up to 200 miles and just can do that yet. you need alot of information on these sites. oh well just trying to give you something to think about.frankie
psp1964
Thanks for the info frankie, I've done a lot of research since I move to Louisiana and unfortunately the state has a tight grip on where a person can metal detect. No state parks, no known battle fields and getting permission to detect on private property is pretty tough. I'll look for the book and see if it can give me some new places to check out. The info is much appreciated. Patrick
