John B.
Hi All I'm hoping Jayray can find me up there somewhere ( he's the only guy I know with a good telescope) :hmmmmmm: ?? I got this email from the Meteoritics lab at the U of A :woohoo: . Of course I said yes and emailed Dolores my birthdate. I guess if my asteroid falls to earth it will already have a name :innocent0009: ?? Maybe I can hunt for pieces of John B. :confused0013: ??? God forbid it's a planetkiller :Huh_anim]: ?? I'ld be known as the greatest mass murderer ever known :angry-smiley-010: ?? Or be nice to me or I'll fall on your house ?? Well be it good or bad I feel this is a great honor and I am humbled :twocents: . Names and Phone numbers changed or deleted to protect the innocent :tisc-tisc: . Happy Huntin John B. Dear John, Congratulations (almost)! I am pleased to let you know that a few months ago, Rik Hill submitted new asteroid names to the Minor Planet Center at Harvard in honor of the three Gold Basin strewnfield discoverers. The asteroids were discovered by members of the UA Catalina Sky Survey. Jim Kriegh Twink Monrad John B. The first one was rejected because it had already been submitted (now approved). That leaves yours and Twink's to be formalized. The Minor Planet Center has asked Rik for your birth dates and a double-check on the spelling of your last name. You may not wish to give that information in an email? (Although it will probably appear in the public asteroid citation). Please feel free to send it by email if you do not mind or call me and I will pass it on to Rik. (He is observing with an irregular day & night schedule ). Kind regards, Dolores Hill

Kind regards, Dolores Hill Way to go John, you earned that! I can't say I've had an asteroid named after me but I've got a lot of spacecraft and landers out there with my name on it from designs I've done in the past. I also know my names etched on a microchip in some spacecraft out by Jupiter. Congrats! Del
