Value of common NWAs

Recommended Posts

Hi Methunt

There are buckets, boxs, wheel barrow, loads of them for sale every year at the Tucson Gem and Mineral show :confused0013: . Most have been picked through by those who know what they are looking for leaving mostly Ordinary Chondrites :Huh_anim]: . There are the occasional rare find but not to often after soo many eyes have been over them :angry-smiley-010: . I have seen them selling for a few cents a gram in quantity and on up in smaller quantity :hmmmmmm: . It is almost impossible to get them classified unless you really luck into something unusual because of location issues :Huh_anim]: . Or you have to pay to have them classified :broke: . They are getting harder to find since the deserts over there are bieng cleaned of thier space rocks which in the future may add some value to even the most common material  . I Think :hmmmmmm: ?? Happy Huntin John B.

I'm no expert when it comes to meteorites but I think they'll be cheap meteorites coming from overseas for years to come. There's plenty of desert areas that really haven't been hunted yet in the middle east and other areas nearby. Oh- did I forget about the Chinese? 1/3 rd of that country is classified as desert and the Gobi has yet to be scratched.... along with millions of acres of sand dunes. Just a matter of educating the local population what to look for. :twocents:
