Jayray
Howdy Gang, if your looking to beat the heat, this weekend is the Perseids Meteor shower. Here is the link for more information: http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2007/11...eatperseids.htm The show begins between 9:00 and 10:00 pm on Sunday, August 12th, when Perseus rises in the northeast. This is the time to look for Perseid Earthgrazers--meteors that approach from the horizon and skim the atmosphere overhead like a stone skipping the surface of a pond. As the night unfolds, Perseus climbs higher and the meteor rate will increase many-fold. "By 2 am on Monday morning, August 13th, dozens of Perseids may be flitting across the sky every hour." The crescendo comes before dawn when rates could exceed a meteor a minute.

dez-perate 4 nugs
Thanx Jason, I gotta get mike out to see one of them the last time we tried we got a freak rain storm out at Franconia and the clouds obviously blocked our view Stay safe Paul
Jayray
Paul, I know them feak rain storms all too well. As for the meteor shower, it was a dud here in Afghanistan. We had three days of sand storms and could not see the sky for nothing. The great thing is that there is always next year. Here is a pic of the shower, spanning over four days, Aug 10-13 from a gentleman in CO. http://www.spaceweather.com Pretty cool pic....Jason :;):
dez-perate 4 nugs
That is a cool pic. Tried to catch a daylight flare today but the one small cloud in the sky blocked the location i estimated it to be in. Always the good luck for me looking for the flares :angry-smiley-010: Once again stay safe and hope to see ya soon Paul
