MobileHolmes
Hello All Cabin Fever got the best of me today and I had to get out of the Mtr Home. Pulled in at day break and there was no wind. By the time I geared up it was blowing 40+ and had not even given up when I left at 9:30 AM. Thank goodness for the 173 Gram as I might not have heard a smaller version as all of my finds are coming deep. :postdigger: Happy Hunting :icon_mrgreen: Wayne
Paseclipse
Dang Wayne you just keep popping those out! Just do me a favor and leave some behind for Stan and I :icon_mrgreen: Del
Regmaglitch
Hi Wayne, Way to go! Nice score at the G Basin. How deep was it? It must have made some serious noise in your earphones. Ben
MobileHolmes
Hi Ben & Del Thanks Ben The piece was 2 + inches deep in really hot ground for GB. And yes it did go off loud for an L class. I lose the sound shallow on L class pieces and the wind was really bad today. Oh!! It was between 2 small bushes and only picked up the target on the very front of the coil. When I went back over the hole to check for a small piece missing and found 2 cold stones in the same spot. Del How was the North for Gold?? Bye the way its no piece of cake out there but believe a few will be left for us in the future. I went back and looked through my records as the wife was setting up a new data base and found that my buddies Todd, Bill and I in the DVD were finding up to 4 each on days. Now it would seem to be left overs deep and under bushes. Very little surface frags that I can find. From April 1st I have found pieces 4X4 miles apart in the field. Thank goodness for GPS I have a pretty good map since 02. A fresh piece of ground does not exist any more that I can find. Hot kick outs are everywhere. Took me 2hrs to clean the clay off for the pic.. Guess its worth it. Wayne
Jayray
Wayne, nice going!!! Hard to believe that GB is still giving them up, but that's all I needed to hear. I've been in the winds down there and can a test to how bad they blow. Can't wait 'til I get back to do some hunting down there too. Congrads!!!! Kaimi
AWESOME FIND GUY! :cool04: I'm not worried too much now. Just let me :icon_mrgreen: over one and BAM!! It's mine!! Am packing my GMT to send back to whites to get rid of an annoying rattle somewhere inside my unit. Once it is back I will definitely be on the run to GB. Aloha for now, Kaimi aka Stan :cigar:
MobileHolmes
Hello All Really good to hear from you Jason. Hope things are going well for you. Being that far away you must be ready to get on the gear and swing the coil again. Hope to have you back soon for the hunt. I mentioned awhile back that it will take me until 3000 to finish the griding in GB. so I will be saving you plenty.. Keep in touch. Erik Six weeks. I could not take it that long without an RF EAR-ACHE :headphones: The cleaning really is not bad when you have a nice one in the hand. I pick the clay off with a tool like a Dental Pick with a pair of strong glasses. You probably would have no problem. Hope to see you and Dad in the field soon. :icon_mrgreen: Kaimi I hope you send the GMT back soon. The weather is cooling down now that we are starting to get the Monsoon. Was not bad yesterday except for the knock down wind. At my age I had to shuffle around. If I had picked one foot up too high I would have been on my keester. Was watching the weather and as I send this, cells are heading across GB and to Vegas. From my spot in Dolan I can see the weather 20 miles out to GB. No rain yet but cloudy. Thanks for all the support. You Guys keep me motivated. :icon_mrgreen: Wayne

Paseclipse
Wayne- My trip to Nor Cal was pretty much spoiled because it was waaaay to hot up there for me to go out. The temperature was 105 degrees + 75% humidity.... yeck. If it would have been dry heat it would have been a different story. I was able to go out only two times- the first I spent a few hours detecting on a beach up in San Francisco hunting for coins and anything else I could find. I think I was pissin the bums off there, because it looked like they were rallying together to gang up on me because I was taking their money.:rofl2: ... so I decided to leave. I walked away with only a few dimes and pennies. Not much, but it was fun. My second hunt was a little northeast of Sacramento. I scoped out a spot were a lot of dredges had worked in the past. I gotta say, I'm used to hunting in the desert, so when I got to this type of terrain, I was stumped and I didn't know where to begin. I decided to stick to the open areas that looked like they hadn't been worked. No gold, but I did manage to find something that looks like a meteorite. It sticks to the magnet exactly like the Franconia chondrites I've found in the past and it's definately not magnetite or ironstone. I decided to keep it just in case. Ben and Erik- Where have you guys been? Haven't heard from either one of you two for a little while now. It's nice to hear from both of you and I'm looking forward to the next time we can hunt together again. Stan- I can't beleive you still have that thing rattling around in your control box. Right now is the time to send it in because it's just waaay to hot out there. Jayray- I haven't met you but I've heard a lot of good things about you, maybe someday we'll meet out in the fields when you get back here. Thanks for the posts Wayne! Seeing your finds is very motivating to a lot of people including myself, please keep it up. Del :icon_mrgreen:
MobileHolmes
Hi Erik - Honk 3 times if you go thru Dolan. I can't see at night very well. That's what happens when you become a old geezer. I'll see you at daylight. Wayne Del - Sorry about your trip north. I had to wear my hand gun in the Bullhead area on the river, as you could get jumped at any minute as the transients were really bad there. They watched you like hawks. Very excited about your possible meteorite find. :whoopie: Give us a post and a pic. Can't wait to see this item. Wayne

MobileHolmes
Yeah!!! Kaimi Looks bad for us when they head for the field. Wish I could make it but have plans. I would like to hear a report of a large chunk of Iron found, maybe around 100 grams or so. :luck: this weekend. Wayne

The twin D will cover almost twice as much ground and will hit on almost anything that your are gonna find at Franconia. The Gold Max would also be a better choice since it will also hit on almost all the meteorite material at Franconia.... One exception might be some of the highly weathered Low metal chondrites at depth. The 4x6 is a hot little coil for sure, but will not increase your chance of finding much of anything meteorite related. Good coil for working dry washer heading and tail piles and working narrow bed rock.... You will have to do the Ernie Carmichael hummingbird shuffle to cover much ground with the 4x6. :twocents: Good luck 2 you and your father................ Basaltgooroo
i wasn't planning on covering much ground. i was going to grid [again mwahh haha] but i am going to re-cover the ground with the sierra gold max. that 4x6 is hot on the bb's in my back yard haha by the way... how ya been jim? havn't seen ya in a while [Erik]

Well now, if ur gonna grid.... :woohoo: ..... tie a log chain to ur toosh and do the shuffle to keep the ants outta ur pants. Franconia at night is ant buffet time. I would rather put up with the occasional buzz tail. :mog: Jim

fredmason
I have never seen an Arizona coral snake but they don't get very big and have small mouths so are not likely to be a hazard if left alone.... Jim...are you still loving that x70? Did you get in some beach hunting when last you were here? fred
