Bcollins
I found this rock while out metal detecting last fall it was in a wash around a mining area and sounded off my metal detector I thought it was interesting so I kept it. any idea's on what kind of rock it is. thanks Bill
Goldfinger
Bill: It has crystals on the outside so it's not a meteorite. Having a hard time telling what color the rock really is. Did you do a streak test on it? That will help somewhat on indentifying it. Steve
Mr Hunter Man
I have one something like the, but mine i completely like the center piece of yours. I am pretty sure it is pyrite. I can't remember what the pyrite ball is called, it starts with an M. Happy Hunting, Joe
Goldfinger
Joe: I think you mean marcasite. Here's a link to a location for finding marcasite balls or nodules in Georgia. I've read about these but have never seen a picture of them until now. http://www.gamineral.org/epes_al-t03.html Steve Edited April 24, 2007 by Goldfinger
