  1. Hello All, I am selling my metal detectors with extras, and because everyone here has been so helpful, I wanted to offer it to the folks on the meteorite list first. I’m hopeful that in the future I will be able to pick-up where I’m leaving off and look forward to finding my first meteorite and gold nugget. I have for sale two brand-new and unused metal detectors with several extras. I purchased these recently in hopes to use them for hunting Meteorites and Gold. Unfortunately I’ve become ill and need to come up with money to cover the portion of medications and treatment that isn’t cov
  2. Jim, I replied to your post on the Gold Nugget Shooting Forum and wanted to add that you were one of, if not the most influential person for keeping my interest in metal detecting so high. As a newbie a couple years back, your patients and kind words of encouragement and guidance really made me feel at home. It would have been real easy to blow off “another” new guy, but you didn’t, I am truly grateful and I will not forget it. Thank You. You’re in our prayers and thinking of you , Dave
  3. Hi Jim, It took a lot of courage to write that, and it’s inspiring to hear you have such a good attitude about your situation. You’re in our prayers and thinking of you , Dave
  4. Thanks Locatorman & Snakejim, Being able to dismount the box from the pole is one of the reasons I was interested in the V/SAT. From the many reviews I've read, it's really saves the arm after 8-12 of swinging...... How would you compare it to the GMT for chasing gold nuggets? Does anyone think $350 is unreasonable? It seems high, but this thing is literally like brand-new and about half the price for a new GMT. Cheers, LunarMan (Dave)
  5. Hi guys, I posted this on the “Meteorite Hunting and Collecting Forum” list and realized that maybe I should have placed it here first. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank You, Dave (LunarMan) Good afternoon Everyone, I’d like to start off first by letting Jim (Paleface) know he is being thought of and I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. Although I haven’t been actively participating with the forum, I have been checking in here and there. Hopefully the future will provide me with more of an opportunity to get out and do some shooting….
  6. Thank you Frank, your help is appreciated. Perhaps I should have made myself more easily understood…… J I am really trying to find people who have a good amount of experience with both machines or at least with the V/SAT. It would be very helpful to get some feedback regarding it’s general function, overall feelings about how good a machine it is, opinions on it’s short-comings, suggestions on how to get the most of it, etc. Also, the V/SAT like the GMT will be used for both Meteorites and Nugget shooting. Thank you for any help, LunarMan (Dave)
  7. Good afternoon Everyone, I’d like to start off first by letting Jim (Paleface) know he is being thought of and I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. Although I haven’t been actively participating with the forum, I have been checking in here and there. Hopefully the future will provide me with more of an opportunity to get out and do some shooting…. Anyhoo, I have the opportunity to purchase a Whites “Goldmaster V/SAT” that is basically in brand new condition and need some help and opinions. When first looking into and for a machine, the V/SAT was one of the first machin
  8. Hi All, Well, I for one am certainly interested! Although I had planned on being at the get-together in Oct., there was an urgent situation that came up keeping me from participating. Is there any word on whether or not it’s a GO? Also, confirmed dates? More than likely, I will be towing my 24’ enclosed race-trailer, so I will be able to bring a rather decent amount of fire-wood to keep us warm and well lit during the evening BS sessions…… :whoopie: I am a rather newbie to the group here and have yet to meet anyone in person, but I am looking forward to meeting as many of
  9. Hi Everyone, I am planning on attending the outing at the Gold Basin later this month and am hoping to acquire some Meteorite Material from both the Gold Basin and Franconia strewn fields. I recently purchased two metal detectors, a White’s “GMT” and a Minelab “Eureka Gold”. I would like to try and get them somewhat dialed in for Meteorites before heading up to the outing, so I can just fine tune and ground balance them once there. So if you have some affordable samples I could purchase, I would greatly appreciate it. And if you have any recommendations for the settings for eithe
  10. Hi Wayne, I sent you an email about purchasing one of your DVD's via eBay, if you haven't gotten it, I give you my email here so we can touch basis and I can get a DVD out my way. Thank You, Dave daveandzeus@sbcglobal.net
  11. I was just a little worried...... Thanks for the info, I am ordering a map as I type! Thank You, Dave
  12. Thanks again Del, I'll order one up ASAP! Cheers, Dave
  13. Hi Del, et. all I can certainly understand that if someone has found an area that they would like to keep as their own little spot, they do so. And I’m not asking anyone to provide me with there “secret” area. I guess I should have explained and asked my question a bit differently. I actually am looking at a general location, but not so general that it covers several hundred or thousand square miles. For example, my understanding is that the “Gold Basin” strewn field is approximately 7 miles long by 3 miles wide. My question is, where is this strewn field specifically?. If someone has
  14. Hi Rick, Thank you very your input, I have been trying to find as much info as possible here and everywhere else on the net. I have had a very exhaustive search that has only got me general ideas of where to be looking. I hope I do not offend you, but your reply is what I mean by general info. For those of you who have been around for a long time, and/or are very experienced, your suggestions on where to look probably make sense, but for someone like me (or perhaps it’s just me….) this is very vague. The “Gold Basin” being 60 miles from I-40, for me that means it could be anywhere th
  15. Hello Everyone, First off I would like to thank everyone for all their tremendous feedback filled with excellent suggestions, great advice, and of course their opinions on my inquiry about Metal Detectors. I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoyed reading all the comments that everyone provided. It was truly very informative and enlightening to learn and understand about the many different types of detectors out there. And there is soooo much more for me to learn and understand……. And yes, once I get a unit, I will learn to become one with it. Next week I plan to travel out to Chica
