  1. Hi All, One of our applicants Rob Allison has 7 "NO" votes and that is allot considering all other members have been voted in 100% so far. This is an issue we need to address before allowing membership as there seem to be some genuine conserns involved here. I have put my reasons up in that thread and although I am in no way trying to influence anyones vote I have given my reason for voting no... I am not sure how we intend to handle this one, but we need to figure out what to do in these situations as more folks apply for membership in the WSPA. Bill
  2. Please welcome Chris Gholson to our ranks... Bill
  3. Hi All, This vote seems to not be going as well as others that have gotten in with 100% I am not sure what to do at this point and I think there needs to be some discussion. Letting someone into this club is a privlidge for that individual and the club as a whole needs to be able to trust that individual to help the club as well as be honest and follow our guidelines. How do we handle a vote that is so two sided? I am sure there is good reason 7 members have voted no. Do we need to hear why they voted that way before allowing an individual into the club we have worked so hard on? Or do we just let him in because more voted yes than no? Or is it important to know the reasons for the no votes? We better discuss this folks...I think. I am one of those that voted no and my reason is not entierly personal, but our club is depending on honesty and support from it's members and I have had several experiences with Rob Allison that have shown me he is at times less than honest and somewhat undependable and I feel there may be future issues as a result. I am not bashing Rob here just telling you like it is and most of you already know of some of the friction there and it would have been less than honest for me to hide behind my little no vote. When leasing claims and being trusted to adhere to the rules therein as well as following guidelines for claim use we must be absolutely sure our members are willing to abide by these guidelines. Hope I didn't upset anyone here, but this undertaking is important to all of us and when I vote no I will tell you why. This post will also stay up so the applicant if accepted may see the reason I voted as I did. If Rob is voted in that is fine with me, nor will I let it cause personal friction within as a trusted association officer and I hope he will become a valued member of the WSPA, but this many votes against and so many not voting is a tad unusual and bears some attention. Bill
  4. Hi All, According to our rules etc. the owners do get the right to make an ammendment to the lease to allow partners the right to use the claims provided they (partners) don't give others outside the WSPA permission. Or they can become a member by default by leasing a claim to us that is in their name. Bill
  5. Howdy Bob and All, Yup and I must admit I too am curious as to if the grand plan will work or not....Sometimes I guess we just gotta keep our fingers crossed and give folks a chance. Good hunting, Bill
  6. Hi Blake and looking forward to your help. There is already discussion started by Micro Nugget about vets and an outing/educational gig... I think perhaps you two should put your heads together and see if is something we can do?? Perhaps?? How about that? Instant duties Seriously I think it is a good idea and need further thought by or new, very own, event and outing coordinator. You do realize that all these guys get to vote next time around and if you do too good a job you may be stuck....(grin) Thanks Blake for stepping up, Bill
  7. Hi All, Joe Kauffman has applied for membership in the WSPA. Joe has been around for quite some time at the forums and nugget shooting in AZ. Joe actually helps with the Nugget Shooter forum when I get in too deep and also has helped with Chris Gholsons site to a large degree. A PC guru if you will....
  8. Hi All, So what the heck is going on? Damn this is exciting and that little dream of a Internet forum based club has become a reality! We are now close to 60 members and have had our first meeting. So far things are going very well and the board is busy appointing the rest of our ranks such as Jim Presley and we are working on a few others as well. We have found that being a Internet forum based outfit has some challenges, but I think we have it figured out...well...sort of. Once we have our various directors set up we will be needing folks from the various States we have claims etc. to step up and handle local work and as many of you have said you are up to the task. There is allot going on in the area of claims and we are working hard to develop more claims fo our members use and Jim has already made a big difference by pulling that responsibility from our shoulders so that we may concentrate more on other important tasks. Trust me we know that this is #1 on most of your minds and is is our main priority. Members have now begun to step up and offer some areas and those to are in the works. This was one of the main scopes of this association to share info on hunting areas and it is working! Blake Van De Loo has said he is willing to take up the task of event organizer and manager and we are thinking this would be a good thing and after all his forum name is "Heybeerman" :innocent0009: Again we will need folks from other areas to assist.... This will include outings, and other club related stuff such as BBQs, fund raising events, etc. We are still working on getting a new chat room for meetings and may have to pay a small monthly fee to get one with the privacy and functions we need to hold our meetings. The hats and patches we talked about at the meeting are in the works and should be for sale soon I think. Doc has stepped up on this one and will be making it happen, Thanks Doc! I will be getting a PayPal Business account set up this week as well for on-line payments. We are getting lots of calls and emails with suggestions as well as fresh ideas and that is GREAT and please keep it up. Again this association is unlike other clubs in many ways including how we conduct our meetings on-line so as we grow we will be making some changes as well to better run the club and maintain good workable and producing claims. The future of the free roaming nugget shooter is looking bleak and by getting after this early we will all have places to hunt as the strangle hold get's tighter out there. Please...Comments?
  9. Sounds good Jim, I'll go with you and figure it will be a good education. Bill
  10. Good post Jim, Currently we are finishing up on one near Wickenburg as well as looking at some in NW AZ. I'll get with you on the details as I get them. Hope you are getting some emails and I may have some real good news soon.... Bill
  11. Hi Jim, Will you be attending any of these? Perhaps if you are I could join you if I can fit it into my schedual. Bill, who also has a lot to learn....
  12. Hi Bob, I am guessing you mean Doc, Chris, Rob, and I? as Kevin has been out of the business and working for Minelab as a rep. for quite some time now. I don't think it's anything more than wanting to be in the club since we have it set up that me or any other dealer can't use the club, claims, membership, etc to sell or advertise, set up booths at outings, or otherwise insult the WSPAs members. The same thought you asked about did also cross my mind as well though.... I think in the very beginning folks were suspicious of me getting involved for the same reason... Just trying to make a buck they figured..... It's not that at all for me. I am guessing it's for the same reason I am in and that is to have a solid group of knowledgeable folks to build a club with areas for the nugget shooter as well as other methods of gold recovery. Most of us were into finding nuggets and prospecting long before becoming dealers and my main focus is on developing this club into the best out there. If any member dealer or otherwise chooses to ignore our well defined guidelines there are avenues provided by our rules and bylaws to deal with it. I also should add that these folks along with others in the club are some of the most knowledgeable out there and also will be a asset when they start sharing locations with the WSPA. We have a chance here to nail down some of the best nugget shooting turff around that has been kept top secret for years I am thinking. As we have things set up I see no real motovation other than a good club with good claims to hunt and good friends... Good hunting, Bill
  13. Hi All, Kevin Hoagland has applied for membership in the WSPA. Kevin has been around a long time and was the owner of Black Horse Mining in Prescott Valley before going to work for Minelab USA.
  14. Rob Allison from Nuggethunting.com has applied to the WSPA for membership. Rob is a well known nugget shooter from the Phoenix area and runs the Nuggethunting Forum.
  15. Hi All, Jim Presley from Glendale, AZ will be our official Claim Director and will begin work right away. He has been voted in by the board in a vote by the board of directors after stepping up at our last meeting. I will let Jim jump in here with his contact info and he will also be looking for help from the various states where we plan to file new claims etc. This is a very important part of our developing club and he will need both our support and help as well as a big THANK YOU for being willing to take on this task. Good hunting, Bill
  16. Hi All, Chris Gholson from Prescott Valley Arizona has applied for membership. Most of you already know who Chris is and he is the owner of Arizona Outback. Chris has been a long time forum member and also runs the AZO forum... Bill
  17. Hi All, Please welcome: Tom Pepper Majuba Tom Stickwhipper to the club. All were voted in and are now paid members of the WSPA. Bill
  18. We have a claims director that we are considering at this time (Jim Presley) and he will be taking care of all the claim work as well as recruting help.... I'll be talking with him more today on the subject. Bill
  19. Hi Chuck, Thanks for asking and yes we actually can use help from everyone on claims development as that is what we are concentrating our efforts on. We would really like to see some claims in other states such as Montana, NV, etc. Soon we will be putting together a claims commity as well as needing folks to do the paperwork. Someone in charge of outings and events would be nice too... We are trying to get all this figured out and trust me my friends there will be more to do as we figure out how in the hell to do it All your folks's input has been the biggest help so far and please keep it coming.... Bill
  20. Howdy old coot, I'm Bill, not Tom and we are voting on Tom's membership. No one can vote more than one time in a membership poll as that is how voting is set up. We discussed sponsorship at the meeting and the membership decided not to persue it at this time due to us being forum based and most of us knowing each other that way. We do not advertise or have a website so it is pretty much only by word of mouth that someone finds us anyway. Although we do not require a sponsor it is permitted and if another member wants to sponsor someone and introduce him before the vote at the forum it is welcomed. I think at this time all members have been on the forum for quite some time as well.... If in the future this is addressed and decided upon so be it as it is another way to be sure we are getting folks with like intentions and ideas about joining and supporting our association. Good hunting, Bill
  21. Very Nice Bob, Always nice to nab one like that! Bill
  22. Hi All, David asked this in a membership vote and I thought I'd post it here as well....with my answer. If you don't know this person, I guess you just abstain? (new to this club stuff) Flak Hi Flack, Yes I guess so, it is just a way of keeping the ranks from absorbing bad apples I guess you would say. I can't really see anyone being rejected unless there is clear evidence of a crime commited regarding prospecting or other acts that would lead to the WSPA not allowing membership. This also gives a more homey feel when folks are voted in or sponsored by another member, thus a new applicant actually feels like they belong after being accepted. This rule was adopted at the meeting and I agree with the rest that it is a good rule. In the same sprit folks can say good stuff as well to give the rest of the members an idea what their sponsored applicant is all about. Having a good solid membership of honest folks willing to help the WSPA grow will insure our success and development of claims as opposed to other clubs where the membership is only interested in extracting gold without helping the association at all. That is just plain wrong and we really hope to avoid such folks when everyone else is working hard where they can. We may not have everyone busy at once, but believe me I know I can count on anyone that has joined so far to help where needed and that again will assure our success. Good hunting, Bill
