  1. Stupid question...why is it Mohave on one side of the river...and Mojave on the other?!?

My understanding is Mojave is the spanish spelling. It's a native American word though, so as far as I'm concerned it should always be Mohave.

  2. Being the n00b that I am, I have nothing to post. On top of that I've got a full time job so getting out is rather tough. Once the weather changes I'll be getting out some with my shiny new Tesoro Lobo st, and hope to be able to post up some nice pics here.

  3. I know three locations where rhodonite has been reported to have been found at some point or another. One of them was Crafton Hills, and that source dried up in the 60s. Another was Randsburg, and that area now appears to be part of a massive manganese mine which means if there's any left there, it's off limits. The third location is Wrightwood. Supposedly there's plenty there to be found, but I've been skunked on any attempts I've made. I've got a healthy stock of small pieces of the Crafton Hills stuff that my uncle collected way back when, but my ladyfriend insists on finding some. If anyone has any tips on locations where it's available I'd be happy to hear them.

  4. Jim!

It warms my heart to see you still alive and kicking. You may not remember me, but I was a member for both PCSC and Chino Valley Prospectors about 15 years ago. I had lots of changes in my life and was unable to continue with the hobby for a while. I always remembered our field trips and riding up to Randsburg with you. I've never forgotten our conversations on the long drives, nor have I forgotten the things you taught me. I'll never forget your generosity--lending me your Tesoro Diablo since I had no detector of my own, and I will never forget all the targets you gave me. I wish I could have continued in the hobby, and continuds learning from you, instead of having to give it up.

I hope you are on the mend. I've seen that you may not walk again, but I certainly hope that is not the case. I hope to see you around often.

    Thanks for everything,
