You obviously have a very good idea about kids... I remember my parents take my sister and out to a spot that they found and spending great days playing in the water and having a good old time. Unfortunately they never panned gold out... only pirites. But it got me on track to do something more than sit a home. I took all of my finds and stories straight to my parents, i guess to thank them. They are passed away now so it resonants to pass it down..... and maybe she will be better than me some day.

Went out today with Luke and Dad to do some detecting. Weather was fantastic! First wash I went up I was able to dig this little guy out with my finger. Sure is a neat feeling when you see a little yellow smile looking back up at you. We met up after a couple of hours and Luke/Dad had not found anything......so we went to the old stand by Pizza wash. I was able to coax 1.4 gram nugget out of a small trib to the side that I have detected a lot and Luke even hit it. Must have been the bigger 13x17 EVO along with wet ground that I heard it this time. It was about a foot deep.

Way to go guy's! I didn't think anybody was out Sunday, the weather up here has been like Seattle and thought it was like that down there too. Some nice nuggets like that sure will make any day sunny though!

Yes, it sure was a great day for detecting. It's always interesting to see water in places where there usually is none. Made some target recoveries a little more difficult too. Both of my nuggets were found 'at full depth'. The 15" EVO and modded 4000 combination seems to be working well. I'm thankful for good friends and eternally grateful for being 'allowed' to detect in such an awesome place. Here's my two cleaned up a bit. 2.9 grams total. For those of you who are good at math.... The larger one was .1g heavier than the smaller one.

Holly, Lily and I headed out yesterday about Noon for a quick trip to pan some dirt. I took the Sdc2300 with so i could check some spots that I had worked over the last season. Well....Holly took the detector and started digging targets. Wire.... bullet... wire. Her attitude was still upbeat even though it was just trash. I told her to head for the bedrock and stay shallow. She did just that. She found, dug and recovered a nice little nugget! A side note: I was walking about two feet from the truck when I spotted this. Eyeball detecting on the fly. I guess its considered a sunbaker but

I don't know snakes, but I looked up the Ridge Nosed rattler and it has a pretty distinct snout and this one didn't at Bill's outing look like that. A few weeks before this I outing I was up in Mariposa and saw this sweet Gopher Snake. The mates I was with said that they kill rattlers and are immune to their venom? Are they really immune? It was a beautiful snake, really distinct markings. Doc

It did. Really deep in some areas that choke up. Some areas are more cleared off and some areas filled in.
