Today I got out with the Nox 800 and I found a place that had some coins shining in the wind. There was also this 4.5g ring when I looked down at my target area under the coil. Mitchel

Here are 15 nuggets that I snagged from a club claim last week. This is a great time of the year in the high desert of SoCal.

Mosquitoes are out so if you have any buckets around please dump them out. Also a good reminder if you have little ones around. Many kids die of drowning in 5 gal buckets.

Hey all, My Boots tend to wear out at the tip from using my boot like a rake as shown in picture. I just got these new Reebok 8" Rapid Response Boots with a side zipper for easy on and off. It is a no metal in boot, with a composite toe. I also add a puncture resistant midsole (as shown in picture) inside the boot to keep anything from penetrating through the bottom like chollo cactus. I had an idea to extend the life of the boot sole at the tip, maybe spraying on a thick layer of truck bedliner to the shoe sole, or ?? Anyone have any ideas to put on the tip to extend the life of the boot? Thanks, Dave

Dave all kidding aside, I have always been a big fan of vibram soles... They don't wear out and stick to rocks like glue compared to cheap Chinese boots. when I'm out in the hills, slipping and falling is important to me especially when I'm hunting alone I dont mess around when it comes to my boots. Try E6000 epoxy. Stores like Target sell it. Or Amazon. I wear Merrell shoes and use my foot as a rake as well. After a few months, the sole starts to detach in the same area as your 'hole'. Some epoxy liberally applied allowed my shoes to live on for a few more months. Good Luck !! Luke

Northern California Man Discovers Massive Gold Nugget on Easter Sunday.A lucky metal detectorist is feeling really good this week after finding a gold nugget of a lifetime. The undisclosed person struck a strong signal with his metal detector and hoisted a back breaking nugget from the earth. Estimated to be worth over $300,000 and could fetch more at auction.

That a good reminder, GeoJack. There's not much else that can ruin a bunch of lives more thoroughly than losing a child to an incident so easily preventable as tipping water out of a bucket. Not as important, but still worth thinking about, is that slick-sided containers of water are hazardous to other critters, too. I had some young fellows working on my Missouri place last year, and found a dead tarantula in a bucket of water they'd left behind my shop. The spider probably had dropped in for a drink and then wasn't able to climb back out.

Good advice Jack, 2 points that I never thought off. Now that I think of it, even small dogs getting over the edge for a drink and not being able to back out.

I have the same kind of boot with the same hole haha. The only thing i have found that works good is a more expensive boot with a real rubber sole. They still wear out but just not as fast. But im sure there is something out there that will protect the whole toe, top and bottom.

Well after coming home with my tail between my legs from quartzsite, last weekend.... today i finally beat the skunk! Iv been working this area for a few weeks now and the chunks keep getting bigger and rougher... Seems like a good sign! just keep wondering just how far a nugget can travel (in the desert conditions) and still be all chunky and crystally lookin? All of the nuggets iv found in this area have been well worn and rounded, except for these which iv found further up the drainage. Not much but steep hillsides left at this point. The two skunk busters on the scale came out of the same hole.. love that! .

Offering an incredible example of wire gold made into a stickpin sometime between 1850's to late 1800's. Wiregold specimens rarely come this size these days....a great collectible piece for any collection. All reasonable offers will be considered....p.m. for more information.

It probably won't be long before california bans them.

Bob, I will remember that when the sole wears out, thanks... A nice invention for detectorists, would be something that could just attach to the front boot sole to protect.... hmmm 🤔

Building intake and exhaust flanges this morning. I used stainless steel tubing for both the intake manifolds and the exhaust stacks. The flanges are simply 1/4" 6061 aluminum drilled, then cut to shape. I have a sheet of annealed copper that I will use for gasket material. That should insure a long leak free service life.

Used to do the tooth picks and bacon on Mallard breast chunks then put them in a zip lock and pour a jug of Italian dressing in, let soak for a couple hours. Was really good on duck, don't know about dove. You do end up with some flames from the oil and bacon grease. Sure looks good in your pics.
