  1. Was finally able to get out and do some detecting in a couple of old spots and a new spot with Luke. The 1 gram I got from the new spot at about 4 inches. YES.....lots of new ground to hunt! And the .1 I got from a old spot at 1 inch deep. Great day to be out in the peace and quite and find some gold Tom

  3. With the first big snowfall yesterday and the frozen ground here in White Plains, NY, my traditional detecting season for 2020 has come to an end. I have a total of $672.76 in dug clad; $43.59 in sight-finds and Coinstar loot; 2.6-ounces (Troy) Gold (10k-14k-18k-22k combined); 3.9-ounces (Troy) silver (.888-.999 combined). I want to thank my Youtube.com/MrTerrySoloman Channel Sponsor, and the following manufacturers whose machines I tested and used in 2020: Minelab; Nokta Makro; and Garrett. Also a big shout out to my friends at Coiltek, and NEL.I will be out at the beach again before th

  8. UPDATE ON CV19: it's been almost 10 months since I had the CV19 and some of it is still with me. About once or twice a week I start the cough again but one or two sprays of the throat spay stops it in it's tracks. Finally got my taste and smell back but in the months that have followed I've lost 17.7 lbs. I wasn't fat so the weight loss has been in my muscles. The Doc's here don't know how to stop the loss only to say eat more and lift weights. Saturday a couple here bought their first detector, a Minelab Gold Monster 1000. they brought it by my house

Lot's of stuff out there to hurt you if you aren't paying attention. I don't really see a difference between an ATV rider falling in a mining pit or shaft and the same rider falling off a steep bank or into a sinkhole. It's up to the adventurer to look where they are going from my point of view. Common sense will inform the thinking person that they should look before they leap. The BLM

  13. A few ways to do this. Mylandmatters.org or land.az.gov is another. http://gis.azland.gov/webapps/parcel/?loc=-112.3674,33.8342,10&layers=3,1,0 Both you turn on layers to see if its private property or BLM. My land matters is a little better because there’s more layers to turn on. THere’s some public lands that are no go for prospecting like national monuments and wilderness areas, and that site displays it.

  15. Just snooping around in a new area, not expecting much, when I stumbled into this lump right in the middle of the wash. Not quite an overload signal on the 4500, but really loud. I am pretty sure a Walmart $99 detector would have found it. Maybe 6" down, and in the most obvious spot in the wash. I have no idea how the last 50 guys to walk up this wash missed it, but I'll take it! Most of the specimen is worn somewhat smooth, but one side clearly broke off something larger. The edge is so sharp and fragile that I broke a tiny piece of gold off with my tounge giving it the mouth-wash out of

  16. I hear ya man. Yesterday I climbed over a barbed wire fence. I got to the top with one leg over each side, achieving that perfect balance. I sat there for a minute to think about the predicament I was in. Looking down at the 1-1/2 foot fall was more than my mind could take. Not something I`d want to experience again. I`m glad you highlighted the dangers of this hobby.

  17. Very little of the public lands and n AZ have mineral claims, at least percentage wise looking at a map. In my county and surrounding counties, except for one little area, all the BLM land has a grazing allotment on it. Should the ranchers share in this responsibility? Sure not the shafts, but what happens if the creek washes out a trail and my 8k lbs truck is stuck? Should the ranchers and if it is claimed, the claim owner share the responsibility to get me out? I hope not. I assume responsibility to go on public land. If they are responsible, the BLM ca

  18. Hi Bob and All I'm not toooo sure your right on this one Bob. I don't own the surface rights so I can't protect them . If I owned a condo which is only ownership of the interior of a building and someone fall in a hole in the front yard am I liable ? I only hold mineral rights on public property. I can't go up there and fill the holes with equipment with out an arm length of paperwork and permits. If I were to purchase a property yes then I assume the liability. I also was informed years ago about this property that once we altered it buy fencing we then become liable for it. These holes

  19. Went out a couple days ago and shot a big boar. He was a whopper! Roasted him over mesquite today. This is what he looks like now. The meat just falls off the bone. It is delicious man! Seared over the fire and then wrapped up with some bacon on top to provide some fat. About 7 hours over the coals. Then I pour off the juice and make the sauce. I "pull" the meat and then pour the sauce back over the meat and let it all cool overnight. I use a little Claude's BBQ sauce and rub the meat with black pepper and red Chile before cooking. The sauce is the juices with

  21. We smoke the whole duck then eat it with a homemade wild berry sauce. Or we will breast them out and smoke them with bacon wrapped around the breast chunks. Or take a whole mallard breast, butterfly it, then fill it with jalapeno cream cheese and wrap with bacon. That was dinner 3 nights ago. Mmmm...

  22. We sponsor the whole MRDS database directly on the Land Matters servers. Nothing is missing from there. If you are trying to view the whole MRDS in Google Earth you can expect it to fail. The USGS discourages attempts to display the whole MRDS with Google and suggests you download and use only smaller areas. https://mrdata.usgs.gov/mrds/help.html That's one possibility. The other is that you suckered for the "new" MRDS map on the USGS website. The "New" map only shows selected features. Not sure who selected them but it's obviously not what you are looking for.

  27. No. Uses places like RRPC to learn how to mine then go prospecting for a claim of your own. But don’t think you’ll get one to two grams a day consistently off your claim. In the whole state of Arizona there’s perhaps five people earning their living consistently off small time mining. Don’t think you’ll be #6. The Simple gold was found by the Spanish and early prospectors from when Arizona was just a territory. Pauline Weaver discovering huge gold nuggets on rich hill and the nearby potato patch with gold nuggets that size. After that, the easy gold was cleaned up over the n

  29. Thank you! As much as I have been wanting to get out & find more nuggets, I blame the pandemic. Detecting is one of the safest activities there is & at least I would get some exercise, fresh air and sunshine while hunting nuggets -- all of which I really need. The irony is that the little bit of work I'm still doing at home isn't paying enough to cover my basic expenses, so there hasn't been enough money to pay for gas to actually go anywhere. But hey, I'm still virus free and happy. My son Brian (the EMT) has been swamped at work and has had to transport a lot of Covid patients

  30. Lunk, I tend to agree and without boring you and others during the holidays with the research I have done, I will cut to the chase. I believe the small round concretions that I have are Goethite Concreations. My simple understanding is that over a period of time Goethite, for lack of geological terms, sometime turns into hematite. My reason for saying that is a large portion of my samples were found in a drainage ditch next to a turn row, in a corn field. The man who has farmed this property for over twenty-five years and another farmer about one mile away who found some of the same material,

  31. I'm by no means an expert on the chemical composition of meteorites, but from what I've read about the subject in O. Richard Norton's “Field Guide to Meteors and Meteorites”, Appendix 1, the lack of calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium in the university lab analysis does not bode well for a stony meteorite; unless, of course, the analysis did not test for these elements. As for an iron meteorite, the outer surface and cut surface of your specimens do not resemble any irons that I have handled or seen photos of, and a recent fall would be in pristine condition. If you suspect your rocks to

  33. It has nothing to do with virus or hacks. https is a method of secure communication between your browser and the website. Your forum website is https but the server security certificate to verify the s in https has expired. The website is not any more dangerous without https but once the board software providers decided to enable an https certificate it became their obligation to renew that certificate every year. They have not done so which is why you are getting the message. Contact invision and tell them to update their certificate, there is nothing you can do beyond that. Only th

  36. When Morlock said those were terrestrial rocks he was referring to your hematite. Your rocks are hematite. A simple streak test will support that. Mike is correct. Meteorites do not resemble surface samples. This is because the surface samples did not get torn from the parent body, hurled through space and survive entry into our atmosphere. Your stones do not resemble meteorites in any way. This is clear from the photos. So a quick glance is really all that is needed. What meteoritic characteristics do you think these stones have? Yes, when people post photos of meteor
