Mysteries of Lucky Nugget - Documentary Released

Research Expedition Project & Documentary (Meteorite strike)
“Mysteries of Lucky Nugget”
An expedition into the past
A story about the Old Woman Meteorite and the spirit of discovery.

The long awaited release of the Lucky Nugget documentary is here!

This story and filming was over a year in the making by the volunteers at Land Ops

What’s it about?
In 1976 two prospectors discovered a national treasure. It was the second largest meteorite to be found in the United States and they named it Lucky Nugget, but their claim and the name would not prevail. It was later officially named Old Woman Meteorite after the mountain range where it was discovered. The two prospectors who found it were searching for the lost arch gold mine. Their search yielded a much greater discovery and yet they received no reward or finders fee.

What’s so unusual about this discovery?

There are a handful of mysteries that surround this meteorite discovery which we bring to light in this short 30 minute documentary.

1.     Why was there no reward issued?

2.     What were the odds of this discovery?

3.     How did something so large (6070 pounds) leave no impact crater?

4.     How did it end up where it was found?

5.     Why was the documentation so poorly recorded?

6.     Why was extra fencing installed at the access road?

Land Ops, conducts a research expedition to a remote area and films the documentary that brings these questions to the light for further examination.

Off road support vehicles ,mobile amateur radio systems and a small team of dedicated hikers conduct this research project and film the documentary.

I'm just a copper member. I hold the camera and edit the film. I was amazed to be at the actual discovery site of the Old Woman Meteorite.
Enjoy the film!

I'd like to see exactly where the OWM was found on a topo map.

Thanks Chris to you and your fellow Land Ops members for a great documentary, I thouroughly enjoyed watching it very well done! :thumbsupanim

Just in my opinion you might get more attention to this film if you included the name "Old Woman Meteorite" more visibly in the title as a A.K.A. since it's the name most everyone will relate too, not many meteorite enthusiasts will be interested and be willing to watch by the name "Lucky Nugget", it will also garner "hits" for anyone searching for info on this meteorite. :idunno:

Hey Land ops, you got a fat wheeled dirt bike up there, as there was tracks everywhere, were you able to get permission to go into wilderness with that vehicle, also found a small vhf antenna... nice video
