I remember the comet back in the 70's Kohoutek, I saw it from Carmel Beach while night metaldetecting. Grubstake

Photo number 7, the mysterious moving rocks of Death Valley. One of the mysteries that I was interested in. No one's proved how they move.

I have pictures of 'moving rocks' in a northern Nevada dry lake. It shows tracks in the bed where the rocks had once been. Up there I was told that when the lake freezes the rocks are locked into the ice. When the wind blows and the ice melts they leave a track. I don't know about the ice part in Death Valley but the tracks generally are down hill and down wind.

We recently spent a week at Death Valley, Yup it is a rare combination of circumstances that cause the rocks to move and they say ice is and wind are the key elements
