Those are some nice pieces....  :thumbsupanim

Looks like you've been working in the burn area.  Better get it while you can, that stuff grows back faster than you want it to.

Congrats on the gold !!

Motherload belt, it's like working in black slate chalk. I come home looking like I've been working In A coal mine. Specially dry summer. Most of these came from different locations through out the three surrounding counties around me

Too funny, Bill.  That's what my wife calls it when I'm doing all my gold research online.  :D

The skunk is finally dead and my Gold Monster has finally proven itself! :yesss: What's weird is that I had 7 pieces last night when I put them on the scale. I gently swished them around and let them soak for a bit in soapy water, and now there are 8 of them! :89::idunno:

.85g total weight, all found yesterday within a foot or so from each other (except two that were maybe 6" apart), on bedrock, within about 50' from the truck. The largest nug (top, left) has a little bit of quartz still attached to one side. Sorry about the crappy smart phone photo... I just had to share the good news.  While I'm waiting for the Nikon macro lens I ordered to arrive I'll clean these nuggets up a little bit. I will try to get some decent images uploaded later this week.

Thanks, Tom. If or when I go back there I will have to work in a different spot, because I know I cleaned that one out thoroughly! :brows:

Thanks, Old Tom! Took me long enough, huh? :25r30wi: After a 6-month-long Monster skunk streak, hunting in at least 8 or 9 different areas spread out across 2 counties, I figured I was long overdue... But I sure didn't expect to find this many nuggets all in one short afternoon!

Thank you for the complement, Andy.

The extremely "hot" ground in the area made it a real challenge to detect, even for the Monster. Ironstone all over the place... I had to keep ground balancing every few minutes til it quieted back down again. It's a great machine, once you get used to it.

It always amazes someone that has never seen or held a gold nugget how much it weights when I drop it in their hand when I'm showing them a nugget.

Took the SDC 2300 out for a day trip on a nugget patch that supposedly already gave up its bounty. Found these little pickers hiding in the desert pavement. My dad was using his new Gold Monster on the same patch and has been skunked several times now...any advice on getting the GM tuned up? He was very successful with his Tesoro, but we can’t seem to dial in the monster yet. Cheers!

Try staying in auto (#11) or auto plus (#12) on the sensitivity setting. If the ground will allow it hunt in all metal. Be aware that the detector does not like changing heights. In short if you lift the coil more than a couple inches ground balance it manually. Always follow the ground contours. And finally when you put your detector on the ground to dig a target be sure to ground balance before you start out again.

Unfortunately I’m about 300 miles from you I believe. Very nice offer and if I’m out that way I’ll certainly let you know.

That's always a great thing when you finally beat the skunk!
