    New 2018 F150 V6 3.0L Diesel!!

Just go to any chevrolet forums and read about the cylinder deactivation setup, lot of unhappy campers out there. Excessive oil consumption, fouled plugs, etc.

    repair

Check the ribbon cable that plugs into the lcd, might be an easy fix.

    Rye Patch ?

I wouldn't drive my travel trailer out that road, I would stay at Star Peak RV, with the trailer or stay at the lake campground and drive back and forth during the day with the 4x4. Some do take trailers out there but it will be hard on it. It is thick with claims out there so make sure you know where your detecting.

    New 2018 F150 V6 3.0L Diesel!!

I read online where there is a possibility Toyota will be putting the 5.0L Cummins turbo diesel in the Tundra, that could be a good combination. I know Nissan is using that engine for their Titan XD.

Need New Tires for my 2012 Polaris RZR 800 EFI

I found an interesting ATV UTV tire that may pan out to be one of the better tires for all around use especially in desert rocky terrain. The ITP Bajacross XD tires. I am about to replace the stock maxxis tires on my 2008 rhino 700 soon. Going to stick with stock tire sizes and stock rims, these tires are 8 ply so should hold up well in rough environment. Customer reviews are very good on this tire.

    New 2018 F150 V6 3.0L Diesel!!

I also am a Toyota long time fan, am on my 4th tacoma 4x4 at 170K now, but the newest generation Tacoma is just not the best for towing, 3.5L lexus car engine, with teething troubles, transmission constant shifting, vibrations, etc. has driven me away from a new Tacoma, the Tundra is a bit thirsty on gas, so I been looking at F150's in different configurations, the 5.0L 2018 model has new tech, spray in cylinder liners, which makes me nervous for long term ownership. I think Ford is switching their V6 twin turbos to this spray in cylinder liners as well instead of the tried and true steel liner inserts. So the 2017 F150 5.0 V8 was the last of the steel cyl liner aluminum blocks. The new 3.0L diesel has a cast iron block and aluminum heads so is pretty standard in that respect, only neg I have come across is it has a rubber timing belt, probably kevlar, rather than chain timing, I don't think the rubber timing belt is much of an issue. One of my other negs about most modern truck mfgrs is they went back to the 1950's cartridge insert oil filters, talk about regressing. I remember changing those darn things, was always a mess. To top it off they now use a plastic outside cannister element cover. So the search goes on for a new truck eventually.

    Is this a tooth?

My vote is for very old ivory tusk due to center being solid.
  8. I been watching for this exact vehicle since 2005, when I finally gave up on dealer promises and bought my 2006 Tacoma 4x4, this new Ford will be on lots by spring, I bet this rig is gonna be hard to find to buy on lots for a long time it should be very popular. I will watch the reviews awhile, but probably will buy one. This is competition for the chev colorado diesel and dodge eco 1500 diesel, with 440 ft lbs torque it should be a good one. I want a Supercab XLT 4x4 6.5 ft bed. Perfect for prospecting and camping. https://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1114627_under-pressure-ford-f-150-diesel-aims-for-big-towers-bigger-cruising-distances

    Two Seater or Single Seater?

Well, I ended up with a 2008 Yamaha Rhino 700 with 1100 miles on it, looks like it will work well for nugget detecting.

    Two Seater or Single Seater?

The back of my truck is used for sleeping and some food storage when camped on the gold fields, I have a camper shell with pad and carpet for comfort. I am planning on buying a decent size trailer to tow a utv. I do know what you mean about a narrow atv to fit the trails, that is what peaked my interest in the Polaris Ace 570 w/45hp, same width as a larger quad yet is a sit in machine with full roll cage. It has a top speed of right at 60 mph on the flats, the new Ace 900 is 11" wider than the 570 and fuel consumption can be a problem with the Ace 900 if traveling long distance. The older Razor 800's are 50" machines when stock so for a two seater its very narrow.

    Two Seater or Single Seater?

I recently with great regret sold my 86 ct110 for a tidy sum due to health concerns, and now I am interested in finding a EFI Rhino, or a 2009-2010 Razor to detect with next summer, anyone been detecting with a single seater Polaris Ace 570? Looks a might tight for cargo but maybe doable. Can't spend too much as on limited income since retired. Maybe a max of 6500. The single seater Ace 570 interests me since I could pick up one of those for 6K or less in a 2015 lightly used.

Minelab SDC 2300 vs. GB II

I would venture to say much quieter operation with the sdc2300 in hot soil versus the GB2. Maybe not as small of gold as the GB2 can find, but deeper with sdc on several grain wt pieces and up.

    New Detecting Partner

Aznuggetbob, wow, that is a gnarly beast the yamaha 500, I am getting older as well (62) and figure the step thru design and low hp will keep me from damaging myself too much, hehe, yet be able to run the backcountry well enough. I just don't care much for the idea of pulling a trailer with a quad. If I get to where I cannot handle the bike safely I will consider a quad. The receiver hitch carrier lets me fly thru nevada on the freeways. I bolted a milk crate to the back extended rack behind the buddy seat, with some cushion in the bottom of the crate my pick, headpones, etc stay still, if no cushion they tend to bounce, lost a good scoop in june due to that. The gunrack is working well for my detectors. I will be headed to N.Nevada 24th for a week detecting with it again, anxious to get up there.
